ClassicBoy #1 Posted October 8, 2004 I just got a 5200 multi-cart from Classics. What a thing of beauty it is!!! Anyway, I finally had the chance to see the unfinished Tempest proto that Atari wasn't able to finish. Wow! Although the graphics obviously aren't as hi-rez as its arcade counterpart, you can just tell that it was on it's way to becoming one of the best arcade translations ever. What a shame that it was never completed. It's almost tragic how close 5200 owners came back in 83-or-so to having an amazing translation of Tempest at home! Has anyone heard anything further about some talented someone finishing up this amazing translation? It's almost criminal how much of a teaser the Tempest proto is without actually being able to play it.
jnice #2 Posted October 8, 2004 Yes...5200 Tempest is supposedly being completed by some good people. You're not probably going to hear much news about this, however, with all the Infogrames trouble as of late (they own the rights to Tempest). I'm guessing that, once it's completed, you can try messaging some people, and a friend of a friend might know someone who can bring you the full Tempest experience. Wink, wink. But it's gonna cost ya. This is the "hard stuff" we're talking about here. Pure 8-bit goodness. Gives you that nice feeling of euphoria... Sorry, I'm reverting back to an earlier post.
