Actually, it's not much of an ending (especially considering what you have to go through on that first level).

 

And the ending to Solaris has been known for a few years now. I wasn't even the first one to hack an easier version of it (but I might be the first one to make a screen shot of it). There's a website (I don't have it, but a quick search should locate it) showing how someone used PCAE to make a version with unlimited reserve ships, but I could never get PCAE to run right on my PC, so I simply did the next best thing- make all the enemies "harmless"

I like how you're hacking the games to make them easier to play so you can get to the ending to take screenshots for your site. Nice and clever. I don't think most games even had "endings" on the 2600, at least not what we're accustomed to seeing these days. And for those that do, not all of us have the patience to sit through them to the end (and you're living proof!)

I don't think I could have beat either game straight out (even in my 'prime').

I also know of someone else, Anthony Giorgio, who managed to "fry" the game, which corrupted the 'ships remaining' counter - giving him unlimited ships. I've never been able to fry it that way, but he described the ending exactly as it appears.
