lonesome_pa #1 Posted October 12, 2004 My DVD player finally died. It barely read movies anymore. Instead of buying a new one, I decided to buy a gaming system that also doubled as a DVD player. Since the PS2 was no longer availabe in my area (except used, which I didn't want to go), I bought the Xbox. Now mind you, when the new smaller PS2 comes out, I'll buy that also. But so far I only have 2 games for it and was wondering if anybody had any real good suggestions of must have games.

lonesome_pa #6 Posted October 12, 2004 FableMorrowind (If you have a lot of time to devote to a video game) I heard that those 2 games were good. I was actually looking at the Morrowing at the store today. It does look very interesting, espically that gold cover. And when you say "a lot of time" do you mean that its a LOOOONNNG game, or just very hard where it would take several tries to complete?
lonesome_pa #7 Posted October 12, 2004 Here is the list I would get if I only had an xbox. Dragon's Lair 3D Beyond Good & Evil Dragon's Lair I blew right through in about a week on the Gamecube and then I unloaded it on eBay as it didn't have much replay value. That's another thing I'm looking for. Now, Beyond Good & Evil, I only know about the name, not too much about the game. I'll have to look up the details on this one. devils advocate #8 Posted October 12, 2004 I won't bother with anything that's available on other systems, or anything unreleased.....Or Halo. 1. Ninja Gaiden 2. Steel Battalion (expensive entry though!) 3. Rainbow six three and/or Black Arrow 4. Panzer Dragoon Orta 5. Project Gotham 2 6 Rallisport challenge 2 7. KOTOR 8. Fable(short game) 9. Crimson Skies 10. Links Golf Titles 2,3,5,6,9,10 are especially great if you have live! There's piles more but that kind of fits with "Ten great reasons to own your Xbox", so to speak. devils advocate #9 Posted October 12, 2004 And yes, I realize RB63 and BA are on the others, but not 8v8, online which makes it a completely different game..... There is a reason this has been #1 on Live! forever....
Stingray #10 Posted October 12, 2004 I have the PS2 version of Beyond Good & Evil. It's probably the funnest game I bought last year. If you haven't played this one yet you really, really should get it. Also, I don't have an xbox, but if I did, Fable would be the first game I bought. It's the only xbox exclusive title so far that has actually made me consider buying the system. -S

You really can't go wrong with 90% of the XBOX library! Just stay away from the PS2 and DC ports and you'll be OK!
xenomorpher #12 Posted October 12, 2004 Unreal Championship and if you played Unreal (very 1st game) it had the whole story line then get Unreal 2 because its a sequal. The GTA series I havent played on Xbox (only on PS2) so Id imagine the controls are funky since the layout is diff and no pressure sensative and you can use your own music too. Numan #14 Posted October 12, 2004 Morrowind is a longgggggggggggggggggg game in that it takes many hours to finish, but is not too difficult. The Suffering is a decent but short action game. Manhunt is one of the best games ever, but can be slow-paced for some. Jet Set Radio Future is a great sequel. Halo is a must-buy. Silent Hill 2 is short but good. Haven't tried KOTOR, but nobody has much bad to say about it. Curse just arrived in the mail; it has received good reviews. Metal Gear Solid 2 wasn't a bad purchase. Shenmue II is a must-buy. Adrian M #18 Posted October 12, 2004 Shenmue 2 is a great game to. I bet its better if you got the PAL version thats like 60 bucks Not really. I owned both versions. The XBOX version is on one DVD (as opposed to 4 GDROMs), slightly less slowdown, saving was faster and more convenient direct to the hard drive, and you could unlock some hidden comics with the photo aspect. Adrian M #21 Posted October 13, 2004 Does the VMU screen do anything? Shows you the special move combinations during training sessions and displays a progress bar during saves. Aside from that, 99% of the time it just displays the Shenmue II logo.

liveinabin #25 Posted October 13, 2004 You really can't go wrong with 90% of the XBOX library! Just stay away from the PS2 and DC ports and you'll be OK! Steady on. 90%? Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the Xbox as well but there has never been one games system ever developed where at least 80% of the software available wasn't crap. Oh yeah, KOTOR. I'm about 25 hours into it and it is nothing short of stunning. It's just knocked Panzer Dragoon Saga off the top of my favourite RPG ever list. Get it. Burnout 3 and Outrun 2 are a lot of fun too. Burnout 3 may not be Xbox exclusive but, considering how better it is on Xbox, it may as well be.
