If there's one thing that I've always enjoyed about AA, it's the drama!

LOL!  Gotta love the endless bickering involving certain members about seemingly nothing that brings a smile to my face each and every time.  :)

Yes it's quite obvious how much you enjoy it.

Kind of pathetic when you think about it.

:ponder:

Hey... yer right!

Thanks, now I'll steal your idea and market it into a soap opera. :D

Actually I am usually guilty of forgetting to use the search function so I can understand why a nOOb would forget or not even notice that it exists.

There are pleanty of threads about how to use the search function ........ you just have to find them somehow :ponder:

Yes. I have to do a search on how to use the search feature :P

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention--Yes, I think a FAQ with common questions containing informative answers would be very welcome, and we can provide a link right at the top of the new forum.  The current FAQ up there is just about the forum software and is useless in context of the current discussion.  :)  I know that such a FAQ has been worked on before (Inky?), and I would be glad to lend my hand to such an effort.

With such a FAQ in place, people asking common questions can be quoted answers from the FAQ, while (politely) directing them to look there for answers to other common questions.

..Al

Geeze, I dunno how I misssed tyhis..

I did start working on a FAQ, but like every other thing I undertake, it sort of fell by the wayside... :(

Somehow I missed this one too, and it's run 6 pages already. Here's my 2 cents:

I agree that repetition may be annoying, but I also agree that someone shouldn't have to read an old thread and try to get their answer. Interaction is a plus.

Today I did a search for scary movie as a topic post. Since halloween is coming, I figured I'd ask people in the General Chat forum what their scariest movie is. I did a search and came up with a ton of hits, but nothing from a glance that looked like what I wanted to discuss. But sometimes rekindling an old thread is worse than starting a new one, since it will force everyone to read through all the old posts just to get to the new section.

Personally I think that after so much time has passed, bury the posts. Put them on a backup, or archive them or something, but let them die. I've been a member here for 2 1/2 years. I hit my 1000th post yesterday and became a Stargunner. I don't pad my numbers with little Emoticons. I don't condemn people for it, but I think if you reply to a post, you should at least say something meaningful. There are people who are newer to this forum than I am with 5000+ posts. Either they are mad posters or Emoticon junkies. Possibly both.

Anyway, if you feel like you should police the newbies, then link an old thread for them. I see this done quite often, but if you are the complainer, either ignore the post or just link it. Don't bitch at the guy or gal!

Phil
