If Asteroids had come out just a year earlier...

Recommended Posts

Just a speculation on what a text label Asteroids cart would have looked like... (I'm in between repairing our Microsoft ISA server, and I got to thinking...)

the original Sears version is a text label

Two of them, in fact; part numbers 64 and 66. No idea why, though.

Very cool label mock up! 8)

But shouldn't the date say "1980", since it would ( hypothetically ) be a year earlier?

Strange... I could have sworn that some old version of Asteroids (I thought 2600) had been misspelled originally. But I can't find anything about it anywhere. Now I'm confused where that idea came from.

The 64 was an error. The number on the Sears were the amount of game selections there were on the cartridge. Of course, Asteroids has 66, just like the mock label shows, but they accidently wrote 64 and had to correct it.
