Marco(2) #1 Posted November 9, 2001 Hi all, I got two weird carts from Brazil this week. I have no idea what system they are for. The carts are too thick to fit into a 2600 slot. They're also the wrong shape. Here are some pictures: Please let me know if anyone knows anything about these carts. Cheers, Marco
Rhindle The Red #2 Posted November 9, 2001 Never seen anyhting like it. Have you tried popping the board out and sticking it into a 2600 directly? It could be for one of those bootleg 2600s and they changed the cart shape to try and hide its origins.
Joel D. Park #3 Posted November 9, 2001 Unless I'm seeing things funny, the cart kind of is thicker at the bottom than it is at the top, like a Colecovision game maybe??
slapdash #4 Posted November 9, 2001 Though they remind me a little of Creativision carts, the slanting sides are nothing I've ever seen before... Do you have translations on the titles? Given the cart shape and small board, I'm tempted to say they're either for a crappy electronic (not video) game, and/or an educational system, though the label graphics don't indicate that. Perhaps the system was called "Top Game" as appears on the left label... Sounds chintzy and portable.
Mot #5 Posted November 9, 2001 Odyssey 2 (Brazilian Version)? from this page: lists Boliche / Basquetebol as a Odyssey 2 (Brazilian Version). ??????????????????????????
Marco(2) #6 Posted November 10, 2001 The pcb on these carts looks like a 2600 pcb (both have 2x12 contacts). But, as was pointed out, the shape of the case is all wrong. The titles translate into the following: Boliche = Bowling Batalha = Battle (Air Sea Battle?) One of the labels says "Top Game". This manufacturer also made games for the 2600, but they look differently.... weird! Cheers, Marco
King Atari #7 Posted November 10, 2001 Those are defintely some weird carts, even more so than a usual 2600 bootleg. Perhaps it was for a foreign 2600 that only took carts in that shape? That's my best guess.
