Looking for SCSI adapters...

Recommended Posts

I got a bunch(5) 18GB 10,000 RPM SCSI drives from work for free and I want to add them to one of my PCs. I'm looking to buy an adapter card for either SCSI 3 80 pin or wide 68 pin. Anybody got an extra they would like to let go of for cheap?

I have an older 50 pin but I figure using an adapter negates the spped increase I'd get by installing these.

Yeah, a 50 pin would be narrow (68 pin is wide and double the throughput.)

If they are 18GB 10k RPM drives, then they are probably Ultra 160 or Ultra 320 drives. The thing to watch for is whether they are LVD and/or SCA drives. LVD controllers are expensive. The drives should be compatable with a non LVD controller too, but you need to make sure.

All of that said, I should have a PCI Ultra Wide SCSI controller laying around. Let me dig through my bin of PCI cards and see.
