Mario has a Filthy Mouth! (And Peach Does Too!)

Okay, I found what has to be one of the funniest bugs in a game that I have ever seen. This actually happened a while ago I just remembered it today. I have Mario Golf for the Gamecube. I also bought Mario Golf for the GBA. Well in the GBA version you can create your own character. There is a taunt editor where you can make him say whatever you want. AND you can import your player into the GC version of the game. Well of course the first thing I thought of was that I could make my character (who is just a generic boy) cuss, then import him into my GC game. My plan was the next time my friend came over to play to not tell him and let him be shocked when my character started cussing.

 

 

So thats what I did. However when we started playing my character he reverted back to his default 'clean' comments. Oh well I thought, must be some kind of safeguard. However a few minutes later my friend who was playing as Mario said "look at that!" MARIO was letting loose a string of cuss words that would make a sailor blush. It really quite hilarious to see Mario tell someone to "f* off" Peach and the other characters started cussing too (and I thought she was a proper lady)!

 

So that is how I taught Mario how to cuss. Something none of us could get s furby to do (you know you tried!) was easily acomplished by everyones favorite plumber!

You know the inner bad child in me wishes for a Gamecube right about now.

The one day parent in me says it's good for parents to know these kinds of things and watch out for their kids.

I think the inner child won and when/if I ever get both games there will be some interesting conversations to be had. Using a"parent only" memory card of course.

words to begin with... then it is a bit too late!!

How does that work? Do you just use strings of phonics to create words? It sounds like it could be really cool but I'd like to understand how the taunt creator is set up.

Okay, now I need to point out that Mario doesn't ACTUALY say the words they just come up as the taunt that floats across the screen. He just makes 'talking' noises (as do many of the characters in the game anyways). However I swear the noises sound like he is actually saying these things, though it may just be a trick of the mind. The point is you are not supposed to be able to edit Mario's taunts at all. However due to a bug that is exactly what seems to have happened. So for example when Mario should be saying something like "Nice Shot" he says it and it floats across the screen in a little speech bubble. Now when he should say "Nice Shot" he says "Kiss My A**" that part floats across the screen in a speech bubble and Mario makes some indistinct noises.
