Got a negetive feedback today...grrrrrr....

Recommended Posts

Ok..so I sold this guy a Router August 26th...it was sent out back in August.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=5715779440

I have not heard back from him since...

So today I check my email and I have a notice of investigation from payapl about it so I log in to ebay...and i have a negative from him saying he didn't get it. :x

This is the first contact I have from the guy since the auction. :x :x

To be honest, I use Mailwasher Pro as a spam filter, so if he sent me an email from a blacklisted account it could have been trashed....but I usually scan over the subjects and I know for a fact he didn't try to contact me through ebay concerning this because I have all ebay contact on my friends list and I get stuff all of the time from them ok.

Also, my contact info is correct in my ebay account, so he didn't try to send me any certified mail or call by phone either saying there was a problem...as far as i know, he just waited 2 months and gave me a negative and filed a paypal claim. :x

This is the response I got back from paypal:

We are contacting you to let you know that we will not be continuing this investigation because this complaint was filed 30 or more days after the original transaction date. However, we reserve the right for the next 180 days to begin an investigation if we later determine that this complaint should be examined.

We are committed to providing our community a safe environment in which to transact. As stated in the PayPal User Agreement, we reserve the right to close or limit an account in response to excessive complaints received about failure to ship merchandise, non-delivery of services, merchandise not as described, or problems with merchandise shipped.

You do not need to contact PayPal at this time, however, we encourage you to work directly with the buyer to amicably resolve this matter.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

PayPal Protection Services Department

So basically paypal told him to fuck off and contact me?

man this makes me mad...if there was a problem he should have tried to contact me at some point so i could follow up on it. :x

I left him negative feedback but said i will try to still help.

I have been using this account for over 4 years now and the only people I got negatives from were 1 guy that ripped me off over winning a couple of Michael Jordan cards for $1 who never sent me my cards so I left him negatives, he was removed from ebay shortly after that for ripping people off, but they still left his 3 negatives on my record...and a couple of people who bought stuff right when my grandma died and I was late getting the stuff out...I was gone for like 4 weeks on short notice when she was ill and I didn't really have access to a computer or time to worry about ebay stuff...so those 2 might have been legit.

I'm not a bad person and stuff like this bothers me, i don't rip anyone off for any amount of money large or small. :x

any of you guys ever had something like this happen and have any advice? :ponder:

It seems strange to me that he would just now say that there is a problem. This was an expensive item. If I bought something that expensive on eBay and it didn't show up after a couple of weeks I would want to know what is up.

I assume that he probably paid with a credit card and therefore he is likely to file a chargeback with his credit card company and PayPal very likely will remove that money from your account or freeze it. Worse than that PayPal has started going after people's bank accounts and credit cards and have even started hiring collectors to get their money back. Do you still have the tracking information? Did the item have insurance?

One other thing to consider is that a lot of times I have had people claim that they didn't get an item that I sent. I pull out the tracking info and send it to them and their like, "oh yea it wasn't the item that I bought from you, but from someone else". Check the tracking info and if it is lost I sure hope that you have insurance.

pisses me off...this could have all been handled by a simple phone call within a week or so.

Probably too late for that, the claim has to be filed within 60 days of the charge. Judging from the Paypal claim, the guy probably doesn't know about the 60-day credit card claim limit either. Even if he did, it depends on the credit card, Discover and American Express don't allow Paypal chargebacks, Visa and MC do.

eBay allows you to both "mutually withdraw" the negs. You might contact him and tell him you wish to do this and you will help him with his purchase.

Hopefully he'll see the advantage to doing this and cooperate.

Regardless, don't forget you can post a response in your feedback to his neg. At least it will help minimize any impact on your selling.

Good luck

yeah i am going to wait until we get it resolved before i make a response to his negative feedback...you only get one and then he can respond to it...hopefully its all just a huge lack of communication and we can get it fixed quickly...if not i guess life goes on...just sucks i hate getting negative feedback under any circumstances.

Square Trade a "negative removal" service.

Yeah... for a friggin price! I think they charge like $20 or something.

I wouldn't get flustered over the negative. I'd get flustered over any chance of losing that much money.

Since it was sent UPS, did you insure it for the price it sold? If not, did you tell the buyer that insurance was extra? At $30 shipping, I think it would be insured that high without extra cost. If you can't find the tracking number, make sure you have the guy's address and call UPS directly. They can probably find it faster than you could.

The reason why I only auction stuff on here, and not on ebay. Besides, you guys deserve it more than the ebayers :)

yeah the $30 included insurance for $900 and shipping to him...damn routers are fairly heavy and it was sent in a big box so it wouldn't get damaged.

The guy has since contacted me after i left the negative and seems like he wants to work it out...i hope we can take care of it quickly.

thanks for the info so far guys...
