5200 Prototype auctions

Recommended Posts

I have decided to AUCTION a couple of my Atari 5200 Prototypes I am starting with the following two

RS TENNIS - in case with original Atari Loaner Label, small white label reads Tennis EPROM Cartridge

and eprom window stickers have 343 date code, I think this is a WIP from 12/9/81 since the final Ver.

is 3/4/82 but I can't be sure since I don't have a released RS TENNIS to check it against

QIX - in case with only the small white label that reads QIX EPROM Cartridge 11/Nov/82, the eprom

window stickers have QIX in type and then 11-11 in Ink pin. Again I don't have the released game

to check it against so I am not sure if its the final Ver. or not.

Both games have been tested and seem to work fine but I have not done any real in-depth testing I

only loaded them up and played them for a few minutes to make sure they were working.

If anyone is interested in bidding on one, Here are the links

http://www.videogamesauction.com/cgi-bin/a...item=1099792811

and

http://www.videogamesauction.com/cgi-bin/a...item=1099794656

Or if you want to see all the categorys here is the main page link

http://videogamesauction.com/

Below are a few things you should know about the auctions

You will have to Register first, this requires your mailing address, email address and your choice of user name.

The email address you provide will be the one that receives your password, winning bidder and/or outbid notices,

Passwords can be change by using the "change Registration" link at bottom of page.

If you forget your password there is a link at the bottom to get it emailed to you, you must use the link as I don't

have access to your password, its stored on the host server.

The auctions time is in EST time so if you are in another time zone please take this into account,

The Auction will automatically extend for five minutes if a bid is placed within the last five minutes.

Bids can be placed as a Proxy or a Regular Bid, a Regular Bid will place the full amount of your bid all at once,

Proxy is the default.

There is a "my history" link at the bottom of the page, use it to see your bidding history on all items.

It will display Items won and amounts bid for current auctions.

Last if anyone wants to list some games or items email me using the ask seller a question link on the auction page

I will email you the listing link, it will be free but you will have to do your own promoting, emails are automatically sent

to the lister and winner after the auction closes so I will not be involved at all.

Too much of a pain to register at another auction site, really. I'm curious though, have you had these dumped and the ROM's compared to the release versions to tell if they're different?

No I have not compared the ROM'S

BTW typing in a email and mailing address is't really that hard :)

I think you're missing the point. I'm already registered at eBay and Bidiots. I'm busy, I don't need a THIRD auction site to keep track of. I appreciate you went to videogamesandwhatever.com because they won't yank the auction like eBay does protos, but why not just sell these direct to somebody on AA and skip the middleman?

He is the middle man. It's his website. ;) And Bidiots is no more, you can drop that one from you list of registered accounts. :|

It seems less involved than filling out one of those anadale auction forms THRU ebay, when you can't pay direct with paypal until it goes thru their service.

But why does anybody use auctions when they could all list fixed price listings from here on out? Probably because they would prefer to let the bidders bid them up & fight amongst themselves so to speak. Simply posting in the marketplace forum doesn't always get a seller, or if he doesn't have a set price, it's harder to work an auction in a bbs.

I'm curious thou, to the people who have registered there in the past, shouldn't we still be able to login & bid? From the auctions you ran with the labels with those initials on them?

Sorry but no the old registered users are not in the data base.

I would have added those names to the list of users but since this is a real time auction and it uses passwords that are generated by random during registration, which by the way I cannot access, I would have no way of knowing if they were going to the correct account mainly because no one is expecting the password/email and they would not know if it was not received

As for the reason I am running it as an Auction rather than just selling them Outright is two fold, first I really don't know what the value of these are anymore as the price has gone down since ebay no longer allows them, Second if I just post them with a sell price I am leaving myself open to selling them to cheap :( or getting flamed for asking to much, So it seems much easier to let the interested party's decide the value.
