StanJr #1 Posted November 15, 2001 Why is it the creators of Jungle Hunt saw fit to only grant ONE extra life for the entire game, and give you that extra life a a measly 10,000, easily done by completing level 1? This game is fun, but man, after two or three rounds, those crocodiles and boulders are just too freakin' tough. A fresh supply of extra lives would really help! Cheap! Lemmi #2 Posted November 15, 2001 hahaha i know what you mean , its just one of thoes games that you have to get into a zone when playing
Tempest #3 Posted November 15, 2001 I could never get into the 2600 version, after cutting my teeth on the 400/800 version (same as the 5200), the 2600 version is just so lacking. The flat boulder board just ruins it for me, although I have no idea how they would do a hill. The 2600 just doesn't do diagonals! Tempest
Lemmi #4 Posted November 15, 2001 my best score on the 2600 jungle hunt is 58,855 the music is intoxicating
StanJr #5 Posted November 15, 2001 Yeah, my best is only 38,640. I'm with you Tempest, I wish the boulder level was sloped. The natives could be a little more impressive too. Those two levels are downers after the cool vine level and the river.

Tempest You had no problem in the 800 version's boulder stage where you have to run 3/4s of the way to get full speed? It's probably something I have to get used to, but it's not like that in the arcade version which I have emulated in the PS2 Taito Legends. Philflound #7 Posted June 14, 2006 Regardless of which version I played, I always liked jumping on the chick over a boiling pot of water. Phil
BrianC #8 Posted June 14, 2006 (edited) Regardless of which version I played, I always liked jumping on the chick over a boiling pot of water. Phil Yeah, I like that part too. I like how there is a cutscene/ending after that part in the arcade. It's a hoot becuase the guy in the cutscene that is supposed to be your character looks nothing like your character. One interesting thing about the 2600 version is that you can jump right on top of the woman (though I have no idea why she isn't above a pot in the 2600 version). Godzilla #10 Posted June 14, 2006 ive always felt the 2600 vers was too hard. never really let myself get into enough to get real far because of that.
Rom Hunter #11 Posted June 14, 2006 The big boulder is completely killing the game. They should have given you a bonus life at each 20K points gained.
Philflound #12 Posted June 14, 2006 If you remember when this game first came out in the arcade, there was a Jungle King versions where you were Tarzan. I think he looked too similar and they changed to the safari guy. Phil

Prodos8 #14 Posted June 14, 2006 the jungle king version seemed better...never could get used to the guy in the pith hat swinging around on vines...

The big boulder didn't hurt the game at all for me. The 2600 version still gives you plenty of room to see it. On later levels, it's better to jump over it than even attempt to duck it. I wonder what the ending looks like in the Jungle King version. I should try it on mame and see. Edit: I just tried the Jungle King version. The digitized Tarzan yell is awesome! The ending looks better with the Tarzan guy blushing. I have a feeling that the yell probably helped caused the lawsuit, though.
