zenassem #1 Posted October 30, 2004 Does anyone know if B & C computervision sells the Cartridge cases to put homebrew boards in? if not any other reputable distributor that sells 8-bit cartridge cases? How come Atariage sells the PCB boards but not the enclosures? Are they hard to come by? Does anyone produce reproduction cartridges for homebrew products? Thanks ~zen
Blackbird #2 Posted October 30, 2004 VGWiz sells Atari 2600 cartridges, in four colors: http://www.vgwiz.com/products-hw.html $5 for black, the other three are $6 each.

zenassem #4 Posted October 30, 2004 Just checked, Very cool site. But I should have stated Atari 400/800/xl/xe/xegs instead of 8-bit. I need cases like those for atari computer line. 2600's have everything. I'm jealous! ~zen
Bruce Tomlin #5 Posted October 30, 2004 How come Atariage sells the PCB boards but not the enclosures? Are they hard to come by? Does anyone produce reproduction cartridges for homebrew products? Because it's generally cheaper and easier to just take apart commons and put the homebrew boards into their shells. AA will buy commons 50 cents per cart in bulk if they have shells of the right type ($1 for 5200 carts), and many collectors have stacks of them anyhow. The boards are keyed to standard Atari cartridge shells. The most tedious part of recycling shells is cleaning off the old labels.
classics #6 Posted November 12, 2004 Zen, I have cartridge casings available, but they are not standard Atari format, they are the black cartridge shells you see on the carts at www.atarimax.com. I can also produce complete cartridges in large quantity if you need that sort of service. If you want real XE style cases the only place you might find them is Best or B&C, and good luck getting them to sell them to you if you want more than a few. I tried to buy a few hundred real Atari cases from b&c a few years back and got treated with the back of thier hand. After giving me the run around for months and then trying to quadruple the price on me I just went with something else. There is a guy on these forums from the UK or Germany who is selling a huge amount of XE games new in the box for $1 or $2 each. If you plan on making a commercial release and really really want XE style cases, it might be worth the time to buy carts from him and recycle the boards and cases.
