A2600 #1 Posted November 2, 2004 My floppy disk controller seems to be fried because it not reading disks anymore. What is the most common fix for this? Can the floppy disk controller be swapped or can I get an external drive or will that do me no good since that is controlled also by the floppy disk controller or no? I also have a MegaSTe as of last week but I would like to have my 1040STf working too!!
ROOP #2 Posted November 3, 2004 how do you know it's not the drive itself? that's the most common problem for not reading disks - if the drive is ok - you could swap the disk controller chip with one from another ST (cheapest option - silly money to buy i believe - hope you're good at soldering!) But Happy Indeed Drive is easier to replace than a controller!!
