Atari-Jess #1 Posted November 15, 2001 Well, since being here ive realized some stuff about why it sucks that I wasn't born in the mid 60's and why its good that i was born in the mid 80's what sucks about being 15 right now I missed the whole Atari presence I dont have any memories of saving up and opening a new Atari 2600 i just found one and bought it. (no real thrill) I was born at a time when Nintendo recently stole the market. and cause of that never even knew about the jaguar or 7800 Since im not an adult I cant afford to get all the Atari stuff i want today including Jag games and Atari computer stuff Im still really young (not saying you guys are old) I dont have to work to get money more times than some. I can get lots of Atari Stuff cheap cause its "too old" The Technology of today and far future!! Well thats it for now feel free to speak your mind, give me a talking to, add to my thoughts, feel sorry for me, laugh at me, ETC just add stuff!! woodyi76 #7 Posted November 15, 2001 I'm what you call a tweener. not born in the ripe atari time Mid 60's or not even born yet 1980 and later. I was 5-10 when atari was huge so I couldn't buy anything just drool over the games at the store. It's not a good feeling when you can't buy any games. only the people born in the mid to late 70's had to wait till christmas to get a atari game. Keystone Kapers was the only game I had for a year There was no magazine or internet sites like nowdays to see if the game is anygood. luckily I picked out a good game otherwise I would have been stuck playing nothing but LaserBlast for a year
Joel D. Park #8 Posted November 15, 2001 I'm 24 now, so I was quite young in Atari's hay day. Luckilly I have a brother who is 4 years older than me, when I was still playing with "Tinker Toys", "Weebles" and "Fisher Price, Little People". My brother talked my folks into the Atari. I started playing at quite a young age.
moycon #9 Posted November 15, 2001 I had Atari 2600 the 1st year it came out. Did you know: My first real game (Not including Combat) was Breakout
Nateo #10 Posted November 15, 2001 Yeah, I was born in '87, so I pretty much missed everything. I remember wanting a NES so bad when I was really young. I always asked for one for Christmas, but every year all I got was dissapointment (that's not to say that my other gifts were bad (Marble Grand Prix))
Atari-Jess #11 Posted November 16, 2001 well of course there would have been stuff i would have missed but ATM i really do wish i was around in the golden age of Atari. and im sure most of the people who were born in that time (and like atari) wouldn't have it any other way (other than atari NOT shutting down, etc etc)
Ze_ro #12 Posted November 16, 2001 I was born in 1980, so I have no real excuse for missing out on the Atari (I didn't get one until I was 20). I did have a ColecoVision, but for some reason, I never bugged my parents for games, or saved up for them myself. It wasn't until I got a Gameboy and a Jaguar that I started doing that Of course, you could save up huge amounts of money for games on eBay like Chase the Chuckwagon. But I doubt you'll have nostalgic thoughts about eBay 15 years from now... --Zero
philnyy #13 Posted November 16, 2001 hey kid- if you want to know what it was like having an atari at 12 years old look at the topic i started a few weeks ago-"greatest atari memories". remember back then there was practically no cable tv, no vcrs- atari was one of the few indoor ways of entertainment other than board games
ubersaurus #14 Posted November 16, 2001 one of my earliest memories was as a 3 year old, owning space invaders and cookie monster munch. Then I broke my atari, and we got a 7800.
