tjlazah #1 Posted November 3, 2004 I heard that STOS, the ST game creator suite was released as freeware. Anyone have the complete set I can download? I am eager to check it out and maybe create some games!
oesii #2 Posted November 3, 2004 I downloaded some STOS disks, I think they are complete from the Atari forum awhile back. I'll attach them. Click Team is the company that released Stos to PD: http://www.clickteam.com/English/download_..._main.php?PID=2 stos.zip

+Stephen Moss #4 Posted November 3, 2004 If you want to get into STOS and you have not heard of them already you might want to consider signing up to the Mega STOS group at... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mega_stos/ This group was started a few months back by some of the people behind the Mega Diskzine in an attempt to create a large STOS demo using STOS routines they have had lying around for a while. Although you may be able to download the STOS disks from several sources this group also has downloads for both the STOS and STOS 3D manuals, which you may find useful. tjlazah #5 Posted November 4, 2004 After looking over the disks its apparent I will need a manual to figure out how to use these? Anyone have a online guide or something???
oesii #6 Posted January 18, 2005 tj probably won't wake up in time but this seems like a good deal on the whole package (only 4 hours left in the auction.) Not mine. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5156823319&rd=
Tickled_Pink #7 Posted January 19, 2005 STOS. Boy that brings back memories. Wish I'd never sold mine. Learned more about writing games from that than with any other language. Moved on to 68000 after a while, though. Still have an interesting disk around here somewhere, though. Saw it while cleaning out my classic systems cupboard. It was a bunch of special graphics effects routines (you know, the usual faders type stuff) I wrote in 68000. It started out as an experiment in adding my own 68000 Trap calls. I wanted it to be usable from both 68000 assembly (i.e. Devpac) and STOS. What I discovered, though, was that STOS called Trap routines a little differently. I think what I did was to write two entry points to decipher the parameters passed onto the stack properly. Anyway, I was pretty pleased with it as a first attempt. Unfortunately my only copy got corrupted for some reason. Think it may just be the directory entries but never got around to salvaging the data. Sorry ... Waffling a bit ... I'll go away now ...
