Sega New HandHeld At Walmart

This is what I found at walmart. Only one left. I didn't have the cash for it. It also really pissed me off.

 

Sonic 1 - got it already

Altered Beast - got this one already I beleive

Golden Axe - got this one already

Kid Chamelean - Don't have this and don't care for it

Flicky - Have no idea what this is and probably don't care for it.

Robotnik's mean bean machine - I want this and don't have it.

 

Really now, one game for $24.00. Cheaper at the store about $17.00. Couldn't they have just loaded this up with only arcade games or just all of the sonic games or something. Were the heck is outrun? so on and so forth.

This selection of games is just plain ho-hum.

As was said, how about Outrun? Or Space Harrier? Afterburner?

Or find a way to get Gunstar Heroes licensed for use on one of these handheld thingies.

Flicky - Have no idea what this is and probably don't care for it.

It's been said to be a must-have if you like Mappy. I have a copy, and even have it and a Nomad handy, but somehow Gauntlet 4 always ends up in the cartridge slot.

I bought one of those about a month or so ago. It's okay. It seems to be true Sega hardware inside it, instead of some kind of emulated garbage like the Intellivision one. My favorite is Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, the renamed version of Puyo Puyo.

 

I agree that they could have better games included. Why Flicky? Why take up space with that one, when they could have chosen so many other great Sega properties to put in? Maybe it was a memory consideration.

I totally don't get this one. Why buy one of these when real Genesis consoles & games are so cheap and seem to be everywhere? You can buy a Genesis & several games at just about any thrift store for the same money as one of these things.

Agreed. Missed opportunity to at least add all the games from the 6-in-1 pack. Maybe they don't want to make their other games like the Space Invaders set seem lame in comparison?

 

Genesis games are common as dirt and not old enough to make this a curiosity. Check out the EA Sports stick for some really lame old 1995 football games -- the kind you can get for .25 on Ebay.

That sports one is horrible. I pass up so many sports games. I get so pissed when I see a stack of sega cd games. Just to find out they are sport titles. sigh. Oh, I do love mappy though for some strange reason.

So is this like a Genesis on a chip thing? Or is it emulated?

Probably an actual 16 bit chip but it's hard to tell for sure if it's real or emulated or even a crap port to a cheapo 16 bit processor.

 

Meijer have them now and I may get one just to take it apart.

I saw those in my handy dandy Tips + Tricks mag. I could go flea marketing, and find all those games, w/ console for cheaper then the resale value of that handheld.

I saw that at Gamestop about a month or so ago but I have most of the games, but I prefer playing on the regular console for some reason.

These 6 games on the controller are the SAME SIX GAMES on the PC game "Sega Smash Pack Volume 1". I personally am NOT a fan of any of the games on there aside from Sonic.
