rockman_x_2002 #1 Posted November 7, 2004 Huge score over these last two weeks. Got a Colecovision (my first one). Came in yesterday. All original equipment and eight games included: Donkey Kong, Ladybug, Beamrider, Donkey Kong Jr., Pitfall, Popeye, Q*Bert, and Smurf: Rescue in Gargamel's Castle. The last six on the list boxed with manuals. Also the CV came with its manuals and several Atari 2600 manuals, and the CV Module #1. Now that that's said, I'm having problems with the Smurf game. Loads up the title and I get to the skill select/player select screen. I make my selection and I get dumped back to the title screen. Any suggestions on getting this one to work or should I start checking eBay and yard sales?
christianscott27 #2 Posted November 8, 2004 nice score, esp the beamrider. do the usual drill, clean the cart contacts and then try using a different controller (just a hunch). if its toast bear in mind that smurfs is to colecovision what asteroids is to the 2600, you'll find it again cheaply. its not a bad game though and really shows off the CV's graphics power. i remember playing it a friends house back then and we felt "its just like the cartoon!" Vic George 2K3 #3 Posted November 8, 2004 Smurf Rescue is the game that just begs for an arcade version...and I'd rather see that than another Asterix game in any format. Too bad the Snorks weren't popular enough to be featured in a videogame. I used to imagine what kind of game it might be if Coleco or somebody bothered to pick up the license for it. rockman_x_2002 #4 Posted November 8, 2004 Hmm... I tried cleaning the Smurf's cart and still no go. Guess I could just snap up the cart then and discard the apparently dead one. Though it seems to me that if the cart were truly dead it wouldn't boot up at all. Search me. And I also forgot to mention. I got all this for the cost of shipping. A gift from a friend of a friend. $15.50. So yeah, 7 out of 8 games working ain't too bad. And Beamrider is actually a very very nice game.

Pete Perpetua #6 Posted November 16, 2004 I once had a Cosmic Avenger cart that did the same thing, it turned out to be the Power supply (even though other carts played fine).
