colecovision everywhere and no power supplies

Recommended Posts

I found two colecovisions last week and two more this week at the flea market (after never seeing one in the wild in almost a year of looking). I bought them all (they averaged $2 each), but none has a power supply. I have bought the Radio Shack power supplies that work with the Atari 2600 before, but does Radio Shack have one to work with the Colecovision (I know it's a lot bigger and I assume different volt/wattage)? Thanks -- RG

If you have a spare power supply for the PC, you might be able to use that. I'll have to find my adapter to find the pinouts and the voltage/current requirement.

Sorry guys, the ColecoVision power supply is completely different from anything else. No computer supplies will work with it (Unless you get very creative with it). You're also not very likely to find a universal adaptor that will fit it.

For a while, I was finding ColecoVision power supplies left and right... and I'm still looking for the damn system! Mine's broken, and I'm trying to replace it. Perhaps I should start buying up these power supplies and selling them over the internet...

Thanks for all the help -- I'll keep my eyes open for any at the flea market and I might splurge and buy one off a dealer (they are so expensive though). I saw a picture of one and you're right -- it's a brick! -- RG

I find it's harder to find working controllers than it is to find working power supplies.. but that's just my experience.

Unfortunately, I don't have any extra power supplies right now, or else I'd be glad to help you out. I usually buy any part I see, and throw it in my "spare" bin.. I started doing this after I passed on spare Inty II controllers for years, then I was annoyed when I find a really nice console which came with no controllers. So I'm never going to let that happen again, if at all possible.

Holy crap! Don't tell me you guys would actually pay that much for them! I see these things at the thrift stores for $4 pretty often (All power supplies are $4... even when they sell the system for $2). Damn, I should buy them all up and sell them for inflated prices

Oh yeah, and that's $4 Canadian... which is like $0.25 American or something....

Actually, that would be two dollars American. I went to Canada last Winter to see Niagra Falls, and the exchange rate was 50%.

I may be wrong but I think the Colecovision Roller Controller used the same power supply as the real system. You may find a Roller and the PS on ebay or something..
