Kialan #3 Posted November 13, 2004 Can we get an un-modded Coleco?
Troy_Whelan #4 Posted November 13, 2004 Can we get an un-modded Coleco? Why would you want an un-modded Coleco? I purchased one of the modded ColecoVision consoles from him so time back and it is great! You do not loose any of the capabilities of the original, but you gain the ability to get better picture quality if you have a newer tv, you get these cool led lights that add to the late night games in the dark, and you can bypass the load screen. These are much better consoles after they are modified. Troy
Bruce Tomlin #5 Posted November 13, 2004 Does someone want to explain exactly what kind mods these are?
doubledown #6 Posted November 13, 2004 Less than 2 days untill the entry deadline. Entries will be accepted untill 11:59 EST Sunday 11/14/04. This Modded ColecoVision has had the following work performed ColecoVision 2400 Console Refurbishing Includes complete disassembly and cleaning of the casing, and burnishing, de-oxidizing, cleaning, and conditioning of the ON/Off switch, cartridge slot, and expansion module interface contacts. Standard Controller Refurbishing Includes complete disassembly and cleaning of the casing and keypad, and burnishing, de-oxidizing, cleaning, and conditioning of the directional switches and wire contacts, and cleaning of the fire buttons. A/V Outputs Modification This modification installs 3 gold-plated color-coded A/V jacks (Yellow - video, Red - right audio, and White - left audio) on the rear of the console for direct connection to modern televisions and video equipment. "Intro Skip" BIOS Modification This modification allows the user to skip the 10-12 second title screen on Coleco and select other company published games. The skip is achieved by pressing the left button on a standard controller or the yellow button on a Super Action controller during the display of the title screen. +uosipa llamxew #7 Posted November 13, 2004 If I were to win, would you take a small payment to add the LED Power Indicator mod? (Greedy, I know. ) It looks awesome! Cool contest, BTW!

Kialan #11 Posted November 14, 2004 Because I would not want a modded Coleco? That's a good enough reason.
Bruce Tomlin #12 Posted November 14, 2004 I'm happy with my own modding, now that I've gotten S-video working. I'm still kicking myself for not buying that bundle of chip tubes with a bunch of the op-amp in question (I forget which one it is and I'm not at home right now), since I now know that the things are $4 each Q25, but I did manage to desolder a dozen of 'em, which is enough if I get serious about it. My ROM mods are a bit futher advanced too.
+uosipa llamxew #13 Posted November 14, 2004 Because I would not want a modded Coleco? That's a good enough reason. If you win grand prize, I'd be glad to trade you you for my unmodded Colecovision. Mine works great; I've never had a problem with it, but I'd really like to have the bios mod and those games.
