rogueleader #1 Posted November 21, 2004 In you guys opinions how long is to long to wait to ship an item? I usualy try to get my stuff out within 3-5 days of the auction ending/ person paying. I hardly ever wait more than a week. If, on the rare occasion that I was more than a week (even say 8 days), I will email the person and appologize and either offer them a refund on some or all of their shipping or a free item of some sort. The reason I ask all this is because I recently sold an item on ebay. The guy payed for it and I shipped it 6 days later. I had planned to ship it that weekend but could not as I was out of town. The guy payed for it on a tuesday, I had an email form him on Saturday asking where it was. So I tell him it will go out on Monday and it did. It arrived to his house on Wenesday 9 days after the transaction was completed. And he left me a Neutral saying 'Good transaction but was distracted when it came to shipping' ! Some people need to understand that ebay is not every sellers primary job. Oh well, I know it was just a neutral but still I hadd all positives untill then. What do you guys think? How long is to long to wait to ship an item?
holygrailvideogames.com #2 Posted November 21, 2004 I ship all of my items out within 7 days of payment and I state this in all of my auctions. I used to ship 2-3 times a week but I don't have the time to go to the post office that often anymore. I have started using Priority mail more since I am unable to ship as often. In December I probably will ship more often to keep up with the Christmas demand. Some of my packages right now are shipped within an hour of payment while others are shipped 6 days later. It just depends on what day that I ship. As a buyer I really don't care if a seller takes a little while to ship an item just as long as I know about it unless it is a time sensitive issue such as tickets or an item for a present. Whenever I need something ASAP I will contact the seller prior to purchase to make sure that the seller will be able to ship it in time.
Albert #3 Posted November 21, 2004 I think in this age of Internet, "Gotta Have Everything Yesterday!", many people have become impatient as far as shipping goes. While I generally ship items within one business day after payment is received, I am fairly patient when it comes to people shipping me items. If I haven't received an item two weeks after I've paid for it, I'll definitely get on the seller's case, assuming it's something that was shipped within the US and not an international package (since those take longer). ..Al
Lost Monkey #4 Posted November 21, 2004 I got a neutral yesterday from a customer in a different country who's payment took 20 DAYS to get to me via registered mail... I informed her how long it took for her payment to get to me, and she can verify it on-line... (and she was hounding me almost daily until I did receive it...) I sent out her package the same day I received the MO, and she received it 4 business days later - Canada to the USA. Her neutral states: "package finally got here. service should have been more prompt " How long would it take eBay to remove my comment if I responded with "f*ck off!"? The moral of this story is, no matter what you do, you will not be able to please everybody. Just do your best to keep them informed of the situation and hope for the best. SimonTemplar #5 Posted November 21, 2004 I ship as soon as payment is received- i`m an extremist when it comes to shipping . The only times I had to wait one day before shipping were on holidays when the post office was closed and I had to wait until the next business day. doubledown #6 Posted November 21, 2004 In my auctions I advertise that "I will ship items out either the same or next business day after confirmed payment is received." I also pay for an auction within 5 minutes of the end of auction if PayPal is accepted and shipping is stated in the auction.
wrldstrman #7 Posted November 21, 2004 My opininon is if I have to pay priority shipping that means if I pay the day the auction ends I would expect my package to be there within 3 days...hence for paying more money for shipping...I f I pay for parcel post or media mail I dont expect the package for a week or more but I dont mind because I paid shipping for parcel..To me priority mail I had to pay extra money for faster shipping so it should be shipped right away...parcel means I paid less money so it might take a while longer.. wrldstrman #8 Posted November 21, 2004 To clear up my point....Priority mail is susposed to be delivered within 3 days or less...so if you charge or get charged for priority mail I think it is the sellers responibility to ship the item out right away Parcel post takes longer but costs less money so if seller only ships once a week say mondays..I think only auctions that ended on saturday or sunday should say shipped priority mail..that way since the post office isnt open mondayit would be considered shipping the item right away.but auctions ending monday thru friday that would be a lot longer from winning the auction til item was actually shipped..So if I won on Monday evening and my package isnt going to be shipped til the next Monday why should I pay priority shipping. Lost Monkey #9 Posted November 21, 2004 .So if I won on Monday evening and my package isnt going to be shipped til the next Monday why should I pay priority shipping. Because when it is shipped it will still get to you faster...?
