ClassicBoy #1 Posted November 22, 2004 With all the x-in-1 joysticks hitting the shelves, it becomes all the more apparent that there is a glaring hole in the market. Nintendo. It seems that Nintendo could rake in the bucks by producing a quality, arcade-perfect 5 or 6-in-1 joystick with games like Donkey Kong, DK Jr., Donkey Kong 3, Popeye (could be copyright issues), Mario Bros., etc. With a quality product and Nintendo's colorful, highly recognizable characters all over the box it seems like a no-brainer. Does anyone know if Nintendo has any plans for something like this before the bottom of x-in-1 market falls out?
Dr Galaga #2 Posted November 23, 2004 Nintendo never authorized it, but it is out: http://64.33.43.74/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?...tegory_Code=
SteveW #3 Posted November 23, 2004 Nintendo is trying to stop all those Super Joy III units. Yeah, Nintendo really should make their own mini-NES using the same NES-on-a-chip technology that every one else is using. If they could put in a 72-pin NES cartridge slot instead of the Famicom 60-pin ones, they could have a winner on their hands. Since the 'front loader' style NES units just don't work too well after all these years, they could really do their company good by jumping on the retro bandwagon and helping people do something with all those Nintendo games they have lying around that they can't use with that badly designed front loader. Inky #6 Posted November 23, 2004 Why won't Sega tap their classic arcade titles???? I want a Sega Classic Pack, or TV game, or SOMETHING! Zaxxon Turbo Congo Bongo Tac Scan Buck Rogers Pengo Space Fury Star Trek Come on!!!!
figgler #7 Posted November 23, 2004 There is no chance Nintendo will ever make one of these. Ever. They retail for the same cost as one NES Classic GBA game. They make $ hand over fist on these, why eat into their own pie? Their efforts are much better focused on the GBA, selling NES games for that and increasing the installed base
sega saturn x #8 Posted November 26, 2004 Figglers right they just made a new bach of those classic nes games so it would be stupid to make one of those x in 1 systems now. Plus i think alot of people would rather see a classic compilation on the cube befor a stand alone unit.
