Question: Turning off loading sounds?

Okay, next tech question: How do I turn off the sounds while loading from disk? I assume I can modify the binary to load a few register values early in the load, but which ones?

According to Mapping the Atari, if you put 0 in memory location $41 it will turn the loading sound off.

I'm glad you responded, as I was about to start looking through the same book for that memory location. Been a long time since I've done 8-bit programming.

for the tape player :This is done with a POKE 65 ,0. This can be put in a loader program placed first on the cassette
