d8thstar #1 Posted November 30, 2004 hi all, i posted a while ago about getting a sean kelly multi-cart and everyone suggested i get a vec-ram instead (which i'm going to do). i was curious though as i really enjoyed sean's cart having all the games on it up to that point. what's the restriction in having a vec-ram cart with enough banks to hold all existing games? is it a cost prohibitive chip? my ideal multi-cart would hold all games and be user upgradeable to put new stuff on there. i come and go from the classic gaming scene and flashing a cart (although easy enough) when something new is released or wanting to play game "z" but the current cart only holds games "a - y" just seems tedious. don't get me wrong, i appreciate the work folks put into these! again, i'm just curious mostly. Rob Mitchell #2 Posted November 30, 2004 what's the restriction in having a vec-ram cart with enough banks to hold all existing games? I think the VecFLASH cart has 512k memory. Alex Herbert compiled many of the original games into two 32k bank sets. So most of the original games would only take up two banks. Alternatively you could have these two banks burned into two separate carts. Also you will want to get Protector/YASI and Thrust carts because they save the high scores.
