Multiple versions of the same game

Recommended Posts

It would be nice if this site could offer the ROMS for these, and include a brief description of the differences. Besides all the various prototype versions that continue to pop up, there are probably a few dozen games that were "revved" (such as Asteroids, Bridge, Demon Attack, Lost Luggage, etc.) to fix glitches or to tweak some features. There are also a number of PAL games that differ from their NTSC counterparts (Battlezone, RS Soccer, SW: Empire Strikes Back, etc.).

Feasible?

Hi Scott,

Sounds like a good idea. We could pretty easily add this information to the Profile Page for each game, perhaps in a "Revisions" section. Only a small percentage of games would actually have this info, but for those that do it would be pretty interesting. We could even provide links to pictures of individual prototypes, ROM images and screenshots. Would be a nice way of tying in prototypes, since so many of them are floating around out there.

As for the various foreign titles, we already have plans in place to tie them to the original games, as well as pointing the original games to the foreign titles. We'll be adding an "Also Released As" section, which will be used to point to games that share a common ancestry. We do some of that now with the "See Also" links on some pages (look at the bottom), but not as much as we could. Once we get the "Also Released As" functionality in place (soon), this information will be more consistent between titles.

Hmm... Now you've got me all intreged. If someone was willing to help me out with the info I'd be willing to host such a page. Actually I may do it anyway even if Atari Age wants to do it (So there!)
