This is for anyone here that plans on making a 2600 game. This is a question that gets asked a lot.

For empty cartridge cases read this StellaList archive thread.

For custom built PCBs check with Joe Grand (maker of ScsiSide). He had some custom PCBs made up for his game. I think he may have sold them all to Randy though.

I took a look at the Brazilian website mentioned in that thread, and the cartridges they are selling look suspiciously like ColecoVision carts. It's hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like it has the indents on one side like a normal ColecoVision cart, which would make them rather difficult to use in a 2600. Also, there doesn't seem to be any resolution in that thread as far as whether anyone ever successfully ordered cartridge shells from that company.

Someone just needs to front some money and have some Atari-like cartridge shells made. I would be willing to do that if someone could point me in the direction of someone who has done this before or of companies that can do this.

No, Joe still has PCB's up for grabs. I have been talking to him and he will glady fill any size order. He gets them commercially done, so there is no end to the supply.

You may have to wait up to 4 weeks to get them, due to the time to get them commercially made.

I have been in contact with just about every Plastic Company/Mold maker in my area, and a fellow Atarian who can do it.

The biggest problem is getting the molds to make the cases. I have been quoted prices for the two molds needed, it will cost inbetween $8,000 - $10,000 US dollars.

The same owner of the plastic company that I went to in person also told me if he had the machine he could do both molds for me, for about $100 US dollars.

He did suggest I try to find the original makers of the Atari game cases, they might still have the molds or at least the measurements and everything so new molds can be made.

So unless someone knows who the companies were that made the cases, or would like to donate about $10,000 US dollars it won't be happening.

The other Atarian here, Cassidy, has another idea to get the molds. We are still looking to get new cases made.

If we find a solution or start making actual cases I'll let everyone know.

Albert or anyone else, do you think the actual Atari 2600 programmers may know about the cases?

I noticed the list of Atari 2600 programmers and thought perhaps they may know something about the cases. Do you think they might know anything about it?

I know Atari had everyone in their own areas and they did strictly what they were paid to do or what not, but perhaps one of them may know.

As a last resort I may e-mail the entire list of programmers and see if they know anything about the cases.

Mauricio states the cases are the ones used for CCE cartridges (StellaList link).

There were some orders placed with him from some StellaList subscribers but I haven't heard of anyone using them.
