Newbie: How valuable is silver Gravitar in box, etc on Ebay?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I'm probably not a hardcore Atari enthusiast like most on this board, but Atari was a big part of my life as a kid. Anyways, I just recently discovered on the internet that some of my stuff that has been boxed up for years is pretty rare, and I'm going to be selling it on Ebay. For instance, I've already sold a near-mint Crazy Climber in the box.

I also have a silver label Gravitar with box, manual, and even the old Gravitar contest entry form for Atari club members. The box is in very fine shape, a heck of a lot better than this one I saw:

I have some other items that may or may not be collectible. I've got Swordquest Earthworld with the box & manual (maybe not a big deal, and not as in good of shape as Gravitar), but it also has the comic book which is in fine condition, contest rules, and a couple of letters from Atari. (No, I didn't win.) I realize this isn't a rare or popular game, so I'm not sure if the comic makes it a big deal or not.

I also noticed my Raiders of the Lost Ark cartridge comes with the box, manual, and a solution sheet that I believe I got by calling Atari. It unfolds so it looks like a treasure map on one side (with screenshots of the different areas of the game) and a walkthrough on the other side. Again - maybe not a big deal, but I'm not sure.

So my guess is that Gravitar is valuable. Earthworld and Raiders aren't. Does anyone have any opinions on what these three items might sell for separately? Thanks.

At the top of the AA site click on 2600 and you will find the rarity guide for NTSC atari games. Gravitar is an 8 out of 10 and Raiders and Earthworld are very common 2's on the rarity scale.

The Gravitar you can expect to get about $300-$400 on a good day when people have money again (i.e. after Xmas), so I would put a reserve of at least $250 on it. It's worth about $40 on its own with no box, the manual is about $10 probably, but complete it's very hard to find. That's all assuming the condition really is top notch.

It's not the most common Atari Club game (Rubik's Cube is) but it's further undervalued because it exists as a red label game. It is, however, very hard to find, not least because doing a search for "Gravitar" on eBay returns 5,000 red labels for each Silver one.

$300-400? Hmmm I'm sure I've been seeing complete ones go for $150 mark. Mainly due to the redness, and it being more common than the proper exclusives. Crazy Climber complete, now that I'd expect to go for that range.

$150 is the low end for one of these. I've seen them go in the $200-$250 range.

Yeah - that was me! Believe it or not, the person who bought it later e-mailed me to say he had received two offers of over $1,000 for it. But this guy was so thrilled to own it, he said he would never part with it no matter what.
