rogueleader #1 Posted December 9, 2004 So, I know some of you probably think they are tacky, but I like to collect those airblown Christmas inflatables that have become popular recently. It all started several years ago when they first appeared at Lowes. I bought a snowman and have gotten a new one every year since. I now have five! Anyway, I was looking to see if there was such thing as an airblow Nativity scene. Sure enough I came across this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW However, is it just me or does Joseph look kind of Italian? I can't quite put my finger on it but something is definately wrong here.
Spirantho #2 Posted December 9, 2004 Er.. he doesn't look Italian at all to me. Maybe German or Austrian, with that 'tache and beard, but definitely not Italian to me. Incidentally, what do you think Joseph did look like? Assuming the bible is accurate, and given he was based in the East, I can tell you he won't have looked like a Western European or American decendent thereof. If you made a nativity scene look like they would _really_ have looked instead of the common idea perpetrated by modern societies, no-one would recognise them at all.... ...but that's a whole different can of worms, and probably not right for an Auction forum. Vic George 2K3 #3 Posted December 9, 2004 Closer to what Middle Eastern people in the area now called Israel would look like, since both Mary, Joseph, and Jesus are native to that region.
joeybastard #4 Posted December 9, 2004 Why is that inflatable Joseph so much bigger than Mary? I don't remeber ever hearing Joseph was a giant.
Artlover #5 Posted December 9, 2004 Looks like Mary is kneeling to me. By the length of her legs behind her, it looks like they'de be about the same height if she were standing.
rogueleader #6 Posted December 10, 2004 Why is that inflatable Joseph so much bigger than Mary? I don't remeber ever hearing Joseph was a giant. Even still he is 7' tall. I guess Joseph would have made a heck of a b-ball player!
