Haunted House Egg

Over on Scott Stilphen's Easter Egg site, there is mention of "lost" initials in Graves Manor. I was wondering about the veracity of this claim and what, if any, leads there may be as to unlocking them. The rumor about the pieces of the urn is kind of weak since they look like pieces of the urn and not letters. Is there more to it?

I've played this game thoroughly and have never seen any initials. When my parents first bought me this game when I was in second grade (1982), I first thought that the urn pieces were letters. Then I read the manual and realized what the pieces were for. I believe the rumor may be based on this.

I know that if you light your match at one place near one of the stairs, a small line becomes visible. I saw this mentioned at a site about easter eggs (I forget the url).

 

I don't know if this has anything to do with it.

Well i havent played this game in ages and all i can remember is that its nice and dark

 

and i never noticed anything weird either

I played this game tons back in the day and I never saw any initials.

 

One trick I did find though was that if you drop something while you're pushing against a locked door, it will appear on the other side of the door.

 

This is really good for that floor 2 room in game 9 that you can only get to from floor 4. Drop pieces of the urn and carry the scepter all the way back to pick them up

The locked door trick only works if you are to the left of one, or above one.

 

The stairwell/match glitch happens with the side stairwells. If you stand in one with a match lit, you'll see half of the opposite stairwell will start to blink.
