Albert #55 Posted January 4, 2005 Funny to see those with Best Buy price stickers. I notice the SKU is the same on all of them--I wonder if this is some generic SKU for items they don't have in the computer? I wonder if perhaps some employee used this as a means to get rid of some junk, or just to amuse some people who might know what they are? Or maybe they were taken in as trade if some Best Buys are doing that now (none that I have been to do this). It's too bad they put those big anti-theft stickers on the back of the boxes. Freaky, that's for sure! ..Al
Flojomojo #56 Posted January 4, 2005 Wow. I had an Odyssey 2 back when it was "popular," and it was very rare to find these games at retail even in the early 1980's. To see it in a modern store like Best Buy, who was the first to liquidate their Sega Saturn inventory, and where Playstation games are getting rare ... *sputter* MY HEAD A SPLODE

Bruce Tomlin #58 Posted January 4, 2005 Kick ass. Those will probably be more collectable with the Best Buy stickers still on them (and keep the receipt too). It's just so amusing that Best Buy would be selling something that was obsolete over a decade before they existed.
Bruce Tomlin #59 Posted January 4, 2005 It's too bad they put those big anti-theft stickers on the back of the boxes. Actually, they make it obvious that he didn't just peel the $2.99 stickers off of something else and slap them on some O^2 boxes he had lying around. Can we have a picture of part of the receipt so we can see how they rang up?
tiggerthehun #60 Posted January 4, 2005 Bruce - I put the receipt in a very special safe place, so that I would not accidently throw it away - and promptly forgot where that place was. Unfortunately, there's not much to see on the receipt, as the fella who rang it up had to call over a manager, and they just rang it up under "misc", or something like that. But should I run accross the receipt, I'll certainly post a pic.
yuppicide #61 Posted January 4, 2005 Here's my evaluation: First off, I'd have bought every one LOL! Even all the doubles. Second off, I think they do use a generic sku. They can't just have had a whole warehouse full of new O2 games.. it's unlikely. So I bet they just get a bunch of old crap and divide them up by stores.. all with the same SKU's.. so they could have a bunch of old crap and no store knows what it'll get. tiggerthehun #62 Posted January 4, 2005 Alright, did some digging and found the receipt... Will post a pic next time I get over to my brother's to use his - as I still have no working digital camera (see "Digital Camera Deals?" thread in the general chat)... I did buy all the games, btw... Here's what the receipt looks like (times five) 6799887 USED VG 2.99 SNE-$2.99-USED (And the same thing five more times)
tiggerthehun #63 Posted January 4, 2005 And again, I do want to sell these - not looking to make a big ol' profit or anything, but a few bucks of gas money would be alright. I'm waiting to hear from Al, Megaman Fan and Cassidy first, but after that, if someone is interested, lmk.
Cootster #64 Posted January 4, 2005 SNE-$2.99-USED seems like it should be the code, for, well, an used SNES game . . . That combined with the fact that the store seemed clueless about what they had makes me think it was some kind of elaborate prank . . . But who'd do that to new O2 carts? Goochman #65 Posted January 4, 2005 We had a chain store called Evans go under about 8 years ago - They had a big closeout sale - I went to the electronics dept and they had NEW in the box 800XL, 1010's and a few 1050 drives - These hadnt been in stores since 1986! Mustve been behind some rock - Onlyproblem was the original sticker price was on them $300 - so they were trying to offer them at cloaseout prices of 60% off - aka, $120 - I waited another week, the 800XL was gone but I got a 1010 for $15 and a 1050 for $25. Brand spanking new
SteveW #66 Posted January 5, 2005 I love when things like that happen. When the Incredible Universe chain was closing down, I managed to get a Sega MegaLD module for my Pioneer LaserActive system there. They had gotten rid of all that stuff in one fell swoop years back, literally the very same week I bought my LaserActive from them. But about two or three years later, when they had pretty much sold everything else in the store off, I popped in to pick over the scraps, and found my MegaLD module in a seriously damaged box for a little over $9. This thing originally retailed around $300-400 or so! I passed on a boxed karaoke module for the LaserActive, about the same price. And I got my first Sega CD game, a case for Prime/Microcosm that had been smashed open and Microcosm stolen. Oh well, it only cost me $2.50. But at least I now had a game to play with my MegaLD module. I had been searching for that MegaLD module for a couple years, and they had one sitting in their back room the entire time. goatdan #67 Posted January 5, 2005 That is pretty odd, for sure. Perhaps they bought out an old company when they moved in and were clearing out some stock. There was a toy store near me (Children's Palace) that closed in the mid '90's and they pulled out TONS of old inventory and blew it out. Even when I was younger, I was really big into collecting video games and Ghostbusters toys. They had sealed semi-rare 2600 games for fifty cents apiece (mostly California Games) and a bunch of 1988-ish released Ghostbuster toys. There was also TONS of old sealed NES stuff (well, not that old at the time) and so on. If only I had more money back then... I also walked into a Wal*Mart in Gurnee, IL a couple years ago and found a TON of NES games still sealed in a clearance bin. The games were in horrible shape (probably from having been lost for years) but they had some interesting titles like the Jetsons, Flintstones II and so on. I did pick up a bunch of those. Rhindle The Red #69 Posted January 5, 2005 It's too bad they put those big anti-theft stickers on the back of the boxes. Why would they even put anti-theft devices on a $2.99 item I guessing so that no one steals them.

devils advocate #71 Posted January 5, 2005 If it weren't illegal to take a camera into BB, and if my friend will actually bring my damned camera back - well, then you would of. I guess that's what those dumb phone things are actually useful for. If you like 8x8 pixel images of O2 games, I guess you're right. Many carriers have 1.3-1.9 megapixel cameras now. Telus in Canada for sure. Probably Verizon in the US. i'm currently testing a 4 megapixel camera phone, with both alpha and numeric individual keypads now. It will be out by christmas. CDMA and GSM, both.
+kisrael #72 Posted January 5, 2005 For my money, it's not the # of pixels that makes cellphones crappy; it's a combination of not having enough room for halfway decent lenses with a touch of overcompression of images for sending/memory usage purposes. godsey1 #73 Posted January 7, 2005 I bought about 8 new K.C. Munchkin games about a year ago at the local flea market , none were shrink wrapped, but had a piece of clear tape keeping them closed. I think this is the way that they were sold. The Odyssey 2 box's are the worst designed box ever produced. Just about all that I have, I had to put some tape at each corner to keep them together. This was a great find, I'd like to find some in my area that cheap, Tony
