Area Man Finds Perfect Shelf for Atari Games

Recommended Posts

We picked this baby up at Meijer tonight for $50. It holds all of our cart based classic games perfectly with room to spare. The shelves are shallow enough to display all the carts and deep enough to hold them securely. It stands about 5 feet high, 4 feet wide and is perfect.

If you have a Meijer nearby and need an awesome way to store and display your collection, this is it! :) :) :) :)

Nice, you should really paint that wall though. :ponder:

And what does "Area Man" mean? :?

Stan's putting on a few pounds with all the good home cooking. He's taking up a lot more area these days. :ponder:

I agree with CPUWIZ on this one, that wall color needs to be changed to something that looks a little less like fresh sick. :woozy:

I don't have any Meijer stores anywhere near me. Bummer.

Nice collection you have there. Sadly, all of my Atari stuff (minus the Jag) is put away for lack of room. I'd love to have a dedicated gaming room one day, where I can have all of my systems hooked up at once.

Now that I think about it, I am still missing my heavy sixer. Damn - I will have to find that tomorrow or it will continue to bug me. It's easily accessable though.

mm perfect fit for the 2600 carts, no wasted space on the sides to be filled up with sideways carts! i'm a shelf nazi, i spend as much time reordering and stacking my carts as i do playing them. once i discovered tape cassette shelves are perfect for gen and SMS games i was in heaven. i even had the good luck to find a home built rack for 40 2600 sized carts, that houses my loose 7800 games. a shelf such as that would be perfect for my 2600 and CV collections, which currently live on an oddly shallow naked pine shelf. i'll keep my eye out for that one, might even throw a combat in my backpack for on site size comparisons :)

That looks nice--I've wanted to pick up some shelving units that are fairly shallow, but I have not been able to find any around here at all. We don't have any Meijers around here or I'd go look for one tomorrow. Well, or after the holidays. :)

Wow that's swell Stan Jr.

Sure looks better than the bins.

(for those who dont know I was in Stan Jr's dwelling just last month!!!)

I have all my Atari games stacked in a cabinet of an old entertainment center. Probably about 7 or 8 stacks. It sucks when I want a game from the back I have to move the stacks around and usually one come crashing down spilling carts everywhere! A setup like this is just the ticket.

its that damn new wooden leg I got, it wears down so fast, I get off balance. :D (on a side note, yeah it is just bad photography on my part). :D

Aimee takes great offense to the hatred of the color of the wall. She personally picked it out and loves it (it looks better in person, does not photograph well and is FAR better than the old blue (see Off Topic for a pic)

As for the shelf, yeah she's perfect. 7 stacks of 2600 carts fit across perfectly. 4 stacks of NES with some room to spare. 4 SNES with a tiny bit of room. Its perfect. And shallow enough that it does not stick out into the room more than 6". Perfect.

Thanks for the kudos! :)

It means that Stan Jr. must be a fan of "The Onion" ;) He's going for a typical newspaper headline feel IMHO.

ps, CPUWIZ, I bought a slik stik from you around 9 months ago and never said thanks, it works great.

Thanks, it works great, and Happy Holidays!
