How i can test an ST mouse with an Atari 800XL?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a program for use the ST mouse and test it.

I use SAM, but when i connect the mouse to the joy 1, the arrow on the screen moves with "inertia", and the buttons doesn`t responding.

When i connect the mouse to the port 2, nothing happens.

Please, recommend me a program for test this mouse...

Sorry but the Atari 8 bits are not compatible with the ST computers and Atari 8 bits do not use a mouse at least not that I know of. :ponder:

@LynxGuy:

Then you really don't know enough :evil:

@Zybex:

There are some games which use the ST Mouse - for example try Shanghai or Operation Blood, select appropriate option and plug mouse into PORT2. Et voilla! :)

IIRC...There was an Easter egg in Missile Command.

When you booted the game,you pressed a key at the title page and could use an ST mouse,I believe in joyport 2.

I'll bet Curt Vendal knows more about this :)

Hey miker why so mad :?:

I only typed what I believe is true and I am not and I don't claim to be an Atari know it all I just don't know everything Atari, I know alot but not everything :roll:

thanks for the info anyway, I always learn something new whenever I log onto this site. 8)

There are probably hundreds of games for the 8bit that I am not aware of :ponder:

It'is a surprise to me that there is an 8 bit game that uses a mouse :o

Where would one buy a mouse when Shanghai or Operation Blood came out ??

I wasn't aware that atari made a mouse until I bought an ST.

When was the 8 bit mouse made public, I never seen it anywhere :?:

There was a commercially made mouse made just for the 8bit called:

"The Rat"

It came with a disk containing software (drivers?)

I believe it was made Zobian Controls.

Problem was,it cost as much as an 800XL at the time!

I think very few were sold.

Hmm, I don´t know if there was ever made one especially for the ATARI 8-Bit, but since the Joyport of the "little" ATARIs are the better ones, even everything what you cann connect to ST shall work with A8! Just someone have to write a driver for that device.
