What happened to Payj at the end of Beyond Good & Evil??

Hey, at the end of Beyond Good & Evil, if you watch through all of the credits, at the very, very end of them, you see Payj standing there (the Pig) straining and making a funny sound; you then see some green, alien-looking thing crawl out of his hand, and then the game goes back to the main menu.

 

Was that like a cliffhanger since they originally meant to make a bunch of sequels for the game?? Or was it something normal and I just am confused??

It was meant to be a cliffhanger, but due to the underperformance of all three Ubisoft titles last Xmas (PoP, BG&E and XIII) then it is unlikely to get made sadly. A pity... it was a really well put together game.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was a huge success, so huge that Ubisoft started giving away free copies of Splinter Cell with it (and unfortunately for me I had bought my copy a week before they started this); BG&E bombed though, for whatever reason.

You sure that wasn't more the other way around?? ;)

 

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was a huge success, so huge that Ubisoft started giving away free copies of Splinter Cell with it (and unfortunately for me I had bought my copy a week before they started this); BG&E bombed though, for whatever reason.

Yes; they started giving away free copies of Splinter Cell with PoP, not free copies of PoP with Splinter Cell; if it is the reverse, then the author of the article I read misquoted Ubisoft's people.

Well it wasn't free. You could get Splinter Cell for $5 if you bought a copy of PoP. That together with a reduction in price post Xmas is what shifted units as before Xmas it was almost as bad a seller as BG&E and XIII.

Yeah, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time was such an enormous flop that they totally didn't bother with a sequel....oh wait!!..

B,G & E wasn't a huge hit but it wasn't a bad seller either, not compared to most games. Heck, a lot of us have got it :)

Reread what I wrote above and then think please...

 

It started to properly shift units once the price came down a bit and the Splinter Cell offer kicked in. And then shifted more once word of mouth went round that it was actually very good.

 

But before Xmas last year, it was doing almost as bad as the other two. And that's directly from source, no arguing with that.

Working in retail at the time both these games were released I can easily say that both, respective to similare budget EA titles, bombed. Although both are brilliant games they have a very limited appeal nowadayz. Although a lot of people seem to own the games, internet geeks and forum smacktards (I'm aware of the irony) make up a very small percentage of the chav dominated marketplace. No cars, no guns, no movie licence, no profit.

 

The lovely people at Ubisoft - they are very nice - poured a lot of their budget in to POP Team, especially for marketing of the games in Europe. Of course, I'm now looking forward to Prince of Persia: Underground 2006. Woow.
