The best controller to use????

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

After going on this forum, I decided to go play the Jaguar for a little bit. I don't seem to remember having a problem with this before, but the Atari Jaguar controller seems cumbersome. Is there a better, more nimble controller? I'm used to using controllers that are really not much bigger than those on the Nintendo 8-Bit.

I'd just like to hear from some people on here what controller they prefer for games like Power Drive Rally, I-War, Trevor McFur, and games such as that...

Thanks!

My favorite of the two released controllers, would be the Pro controller. It's got more traditional round buttons that stick up, and are much easier to push. The few games that use them rule with the L and R, and their just the same size (maybe slightly thicker?) so it's cool.

Actually, the Pro-controller is slightly thinner than a standard controller and more comfortable. There really isn't anything the size of the NES controllers your "used" to, and MAN those things are SMALL, I hate controller that small myself now, after playing with the larger Jaguar, PSX, Dreamcast and Xbox controllers these days. It's hard for me to even get ued to the smaller Genesis controllers again and those are bigger than NES controllers...I can only suggest to you to get a pro-controller, they are great, but you are going to have to get used to large controllers on more modern consoles, that's the trend. Even the Gamecube controllers, which are the smallest of the current consoles, are many times bigger than classic NES controllers. Give it some time, you'll get used to the Jag controllers. Before long you'll go back to the NES controllers and be amazed at how tiny and uncomfortable they feel in your hands. It always takes time to get used to new controllers on unfamiliar consoles anyway.

Songbird modified rapid fire controller, excellent for Raiden. Unfortunately I don't think they've had them in stock for years.

I don't think there were any official Jaguar controllers that had the same demensions of a NES controller. There is, however, a more complex controller out there, called "Pro Controller" (I think a guy above me said something about it, so I won't bother explaining how it is). But it is nice.

Hey,

Controllers are definitely best with variety.

I like the standard Jag controllers, but prefer the Pro Controllers. (The

limited dev pad/Falcon pad is same as standard, but joypad is worse.)

A friend was telling me how cumbersome the Xbox pads were, and

how much better the S pads are (not that I own an Xbox) but my own

experience was that I got on best with the Xbox original pads too... I

personally hate the PS1/PS2 type pads, they give me cramp in my

hands, too small to grip comfortably. (I for sure don't own a PS1/PS2!)

However, the N64 controllers are great for me, not sure about G'Cube.

It's easy to make yourself a Jaguar joystick though using a standard

Jaguar joypad and wiring buttons up to it, if you want to, and I have

tried doing this with some other controllers, with some success too.

Cheers,

JustClaws.
