Why don't people break these things up?

Recommended Posts

Most people who list huge lots like this probably do so because it is far less time consuming to manage one auction than to manage hundreds (or even tens) of auctions if the stuff was broken out. To some people it simply isn't worth taking pictures of the individual items, writing up a description of each item, managing all the auctions, having to deal with multiple payments and shipping to multiple people, and so forth. It's definitely a tradeoff, I'm sure the seller knows he or she could get more if the items were sold individually.

The thing is though, the seller did take individual pictures of each system lot, and each system lot has its own write up.

Yeah, but only one payment, one person to ship to. It's a big deal. Trust me. Trying to collect from all these bidders is a pain in the butt.

slightly off topic but does anyone recognize that tape deck w/ the 130xe. Is that an Atari brand or did 3rd party tape decks exist?

Definitely third party. Atari only released the 410 (400/800-style), the 1010 (XL-style), and an XE-style program recorder whose model number escapes me. Dunno what the one in that auction is.

Maybe I'm missing something but it seems like this lot is going to go for a lot more than I would think. It's up over 2300 and there is still 4 days left. I would think the bidders have to be resellers and with everything being untested, how are they going to make a decent profit on it all? I mean you have to figure that several of the systems and controllers are going to need repair, and it all has to be cleaned.

But assuming it all works or is easily repairable....

Consider typical market value for some of the stuff, like the PS2 stuff.

$90 for a PS2 x 15 = $1350

$5 per PS2 game x 144 = $720

We're upto $2070 so far, and we haven't even covered all the rest of the PS2 gear or any of the other systems/games/gear. :ponder:

There are only 2 PS2's in the lot and both are "for parts".

The games are ALL Playstation games.. most would fetch $.99 each...
