jetset #4 Posted December 31, 2004 I think the $2 is already figured into the shipping calculator old man. And that's actually totally cool (to me believe it or not) since he's telling you what he's charging for with the shipping. The question though is, he charges $10.55 priority to ship those carts. So of course, with his "handling fee" you know the stamp will cost $8.55 right? right? right? RIIIIIIIIIGGGGHHHHTTTT ........
video game addict #5 Posted December 31, 2004 From CA to GA or from CA to FL it would. I'd guestimate 2+ pound which is a "up to 3 pound rate" via USPS, Priority mail would be $8.55 on a 2 lb, 1 oz package from coast to coast like that. There is however no DC added in the price on Priority or Parcel in his pricing, Priority DC is free when done online, I'm not sure about parcel, someone said it was free through paypal, but I don't know if I believe them. But with the $2 handling, they can afford to add DC on parcel packages when used. DC is just the CYA for them through paypal, since that's the only online payment method used. But those prices are including the $2 handling, if you read the terms it states so, if you do a estimate thru USPS online it shows the same prices, less $2 to the cent. Philflound #6 Posted December 31, 2004 He's basing it on 4lbs. Probably close to the weight. But now they offer a flat rate of $7.70 or whatever for a box, so shipping across the country would be cheaper using this method. Phil
video game addict #7 Posted January 1, 2005 His shipping calculator is basing it off 3 pounds with $2 added in for handling. The auctions states the $2 fee is already added in, and that the shipping calculator gives you your total. Shipping to 31206(my zip) was $10.55 priority & $8.32 parcel post. USPS online lists a 3 pound package as $8.55 & $6.32 respectively. You add in the $2 fee he charges and it works out perfectly. A 4 pound package is $10.35 & $7.87 respectively and that's not adding in his fees. It's definitely a 3 pound package in his shipping calculator. The flat rate box throws a monkey wrench in the whole shipping calculator thing. For most items within zone 1-2 shipping, the regular cost of priority is going to be cheaper most of the time. Well unless you're shipping bricks. But once you send outside those zones, a few pounds will cost more than the flatrate box, so it would work out cheaper to use one. Of course what you're shipping needs to be able to fit as well, but that's probably not a problem for most of us here listing videogames. But there's no option for the flat rate box on ebay yet. It'll most likely need to be a separate shipping rate, just like media, parcel, priority, first class, all selectable when you set up the shipping calculator. If you know the items will fit, then you could add it in as option, then when someone in zone 7 types in their zip, it'll automatically default to the flatrate box fee.
