Mindfield #2 Posted December 31, 2004 Were you the one that won that one off eBay recently? My snipe had the crap beaten out of it. :-P I've been wanting to get my hands on these for ages -- ever since I got the McDonald's "Taste the Thrill of Atari" commercial that featured them, in fact. :-)
82-T/A #3 Posted December 31, 2004 Hahah... "Giant" screen TV. I guess that prize was probably one of those scary console televisions with the built in stereo speakers and wood panelling.. Man, the 70s was soo awesome....

82-T/A #5 Posted December 31, 2004 True true... did they sell console TVs in the 80s also? The 80s really was the generation of the Space Shuttle, Port-Fuel Injection on cars, and plastic.. lots of it... Maybe the big screen they're talking about is a real life rear-projection NEC or something!
Mr Oni #6 Posted January 1, 2005 Oh my I remember those LOL god it's been forever. We used to love to get those things. Mr Oni
chrisbid #7 Posted January 1, 2005 we bought a "huge" 19" Sony console TV in the early 80's after we first got cable... we had no remote control per say, but there was a medium sized box with a slide device used to change channels. it was pretty awesome to change channels super quick

yuppicide #9 Posted January 1, 2005 They still sell console TV's today! I can't remember what brand, but I think it's RCA. I was at work one day and we were looking on their website and they had shown a console. It might have been Magnavox, but unfortunately they are re-doing their website. I just remember it's a model we carry at Circuit City where I work. I found this: http://www.800stereo.com/prods/rca-g36710.html But I don't remember the one I saw looking like that. It was a 2004 model and it had darker wood around it with those intricate designs carved in it if I remember correct.
SteveW #10 Posted January 1, 2005 Wouldn't that freak you out royally if the ticket somehow got accidentally scratched, and it was a winner?
Gregory DG #11 Posted January 1, 2005 Wouldn't that freak you out royally if the ticket somehow got accidentally scratched, and it was a winner? Yeah, that's probably the grand prize winning ticket there.

Mindfield #13 Posted January 1, 2005 If I had a winning ticket I'd probably go into McDonald's just for the hell of it and try and claim my prize. :-)

That's how I played my Atari 2600, 7800 and ColecoVision when I was a kid, sitting or laying on the floor in front of an old RCA 25" console TV. It was awesome. I don't know if anyone other than Zenith still makes console TV's with a traditional style of cabinet or not.
Cobra Commander #15 Posted January 2, 2005 I almost won the 2 halves game ,well sort of a friend of mine got one half and I got the other. He wouldnt give it to me even though he already had a computer. But of course I wouldnt give him my half either so nobody got the Prize.
n8littlefield #16 Posted January 5, 2005 My grandmother's console TV died a year or so ago, and we had a terrible time finding a replacement because she insisted on another console. We ended up finding a 27" Zenith one, and paid more than I would personally pay for a normal tube TV, and it weighs a TON. She's happy though, it's just really odd to see a current remote used one something that looks so old!

Laner #18 Posted January 5, 2005 Ha! I have two or three of these (I remember Asteroids and Cenipede - were there others?) somewhere at my mom's house... they're all scratched off though.

I like them better scratched off because you can read what was under each thing. If it's unscratched, there's not much to look at.
Philflound #20 Posted January 5, 2005 Go in a dark room and shine a flashlight behind the card and tell me if you can read through it. When Topps released their 1992 baseball scratch off games to win gold cards, the silver was so thin that you could see the winners. Every card was a winner I believe, as these are. Just curious. I can't remember how many gold cards we won, you got 5 per winner. I do remember though a few weeks later that they put twice as much silver so you could not see it afterwards. ATARIPITBULL #21 Posted January 6, 2005 I once had a chance at winning the Mcdonalds display with all those prizes pictured on it from ebay and with a bid of $150.00 you would have thought I was going to win it, but it sold for about $225.00, thats just too much money for me. moycon #22 Posted January 6, 2005 My Aunt won an Atari 2600 back in the day from that game! Even though I already had an Atari I was drooling.
RickHarrisMaine #23 Posted January 6, 2005 I actually won my original Atari system with one of these cards. My dad used to eat there all the time, and he won the system. Very cool thing to have happen to a 10 year old at the time!
Atari Charles #24 Posted January 6, 2005 Here's a funny thing I found out about game cards and coupons that you may all get a kick out of: If there is no expiry date on the coupon or game cards, then it is still valid(if it hasn't been redeemed). A few years ago I found a Free Big Mac coupon from the 1970's with no expiry date, so I went into McDonalds and redeeemed it(easily). The Atari would be harder to do(as there are no new ones left), so perhaps McDonalds would offer the winner a free PS2 in it's palce or heaven forbid a Flashback system. If any of you have a winning Atari ticket(game card), you should really try and redeem it. Thoughts?

Thoughts? Why not a PS2 bundled with Atari Anthology and Activision Anthology? It'd be about as close to giving away an Atari that they could do. Short of buying a new boxed one off eBay or somewhere.
