StanJr #1 Posted December 8, 2001 No I did not pick his pocket (like he had any, har har). But I did sit down and rolled the score tonight with little effort. Up until tonight I could only get about 80,000. But then I got into a groove and whammo, I was the master of Q*BERT. Coily couldn't touch me. I ended up with somewhere over 125,000 (I got sloppy with confidence). When the score was at 99,000, I wondered if I was going to get a "1" out there in front, but alas NO. The score rolled back to 00000. Still, I did it. I Rule Q*BERT, Stan
moycon #2 Posted December 8, 2001 Way to go Stan!!!! *bows deeply* Now go pay some attention to that girlfriend of yours!!! Speaking of Qbert...Does anyone else have the PVC Qbert figures that came out back in the day? I have the one where he's riding the disc mint in package. If I get any more I'll have to send one to Stan...He's earned it!
StanJr #3 Posted December 8, 2001 Dude! That would be totally sweet! The girlfriend is asleep. She's not a nite owl like ol' Stan! Gives me more time to play atari!!! Does anybody know why Q*BERT's nose wasn't a complete hose on the VCS? It looks more like he's got a question mark sticking out of his kisser. Would it just have looked odd to complete the hose nose??
Fretwobbler #4 Posted December 8, 2001 I must say i'm impressed with your achievements to date Stan. So far Ive learned that yuou have rolled Q-bert and Frostbite, thats impressive stuff - both games I have spent many an hour attempting and failed - especially Frostbite but be warned I am now in training bringing myself up to full Frostbite fitness. I can only claim to rolling one game and that wasn't exactly rolling, I finished HERO and got put back to the first level only with the fastest bats youve ever seen. I went onto the tenth level 2nd time round and nearly had to take a week of work through stress. Whats your best on HERO? Have you completed more than 30 levels? StanJr #5 Posted December 8, 2001 I love HERO, but I suck at playing it straight through. I can get to about level 16 and then I mess up. I usually play the random level, its fun. I need to get a HERO cart so I don't have to play it on the emu. HEROic Stan
yellowdragon #6 Posted December 8, 2001 Years ago I rolled the score on... Pac Man! Figured out some pattern that let me clear board after board without losing a life. Don't remember it anymore and not sure I want to try that again, took a good bit of time! Yellowdragon
Fretwobbler #7 Posted December 8, 2001 I'm getting closer to your Seaquest score - Ive just clocked up a respectable 173270. I'm not submitting it yet though because only 1st place will do for me when it comes to gaming compos. Besides I'm technologically backwards and dont possess a digital camera so I'll continue practicing, beat 250,000 , take a 35mm photo, get it developed, slip it through the scanner and then submit it. I wouldn't dream of having my name on the list in italics, it just wouldn't seem right Adam

atarimastermarty #9 Posted December 8, 2001 I picked up one copy of Q*bert. That was a couple of months ago when i just started cllecting. It turns out the cart doesnt work. I was rather dissapointed because I really like that game. I hope i can get a copy soon from a Thrift Shop. Well anyway, Congrat Stan.
sway3 #10 Posted December 8, 2001 I have enough QBerts to go around. Marty, email me and I'll send you one - just email me your address. [email protected] All out of HERO atm, Stan. But I'll let you know... (just wanted to let you know why I was only making QBert offers, heh) I sent Activision.com my last HERO ~ then they decided they didn't want it and are supposedly sending it back (although it has been 3 weeks now). Not sure trusting them on name recognition alone was my smartest move this holiday season. I am out several hundred dollars if they decide not to honor our deal. King Atari #11 Posted December 9, 2001 On the subject of rolling scores, I've rolled "Xenophobe" a number of times, "Dark Chambers" maybe two or three times, but that's it for me.
StanJr #12 Posted December 9, 2001 Thanks for looking out for me sway3. I really miss my HERO game I had as a kid. I hope your deal works out, that would blow. Stan
sway3 #13 Posted December 9, 2001 Well, I am going to email him again on Monday. If I don't hear back, I may decide to raise a large rant about exactly what was asked of me and exactly what I was promised. In all honesty, it was just WAY too sweet of a deal. They actually offered me a tiny credit on their new retro atari project... that would have been cool. But I think I may have just been stiffed instead.
