Susuwatari #3 Posted January 6, 2005 The Japanese model? probably a grand to be the very first one in USA to own it. But USA release is something like $199 assuming they are not sold out and sell for insane eBay prices.
AtariAger #4 Posted January 6, 2005 you reserve it.how much is it going to be. wm2004 They said under $200, around $189 most likely. Reserved for $20 bucks...They also said, "Saturday would be the last day to place a PSP on reserve for the first shipment in March"! After that...who knows when you'd be able to get one? He did say that he special ordered it from Hong Kong. I also found out that the JAP. version has a really nice polished black case and that the NTSC version might be changed? xenomorpher #9 Posted January 6, 2005 Anyone know if these things are region restricted? if not, then I'll pick one up here before I go to Texas for my next base in march. Region free as far as I know.
n8littlefield #10 Posted January 6, 2005 Games will be region free, but prerecorded movies and music will have region locks on them.
ClassicBoy #11 Posted January 6, 2005 I'm going to wait on the PSP...as cool as it looks. Is anyone else holding off until it's certain that Sony is addressing the "accidental eject" feature and the screen overlapping buttons on each side? Once I'm sure these problems are gone...I'll be signed up.
Invader_dag #12 Posted January 6, 2005 @ClassicBoy: They should have all the kinks worked out after about 4 revisions, which is standard for a Sony platform. Sorry, but i had to say that. What games are you guys interested in? i haven`t been keeping up, and the only one i`ve seen that i know is Metal Gear
n8littlefield #13 Posted January 7, 2005 I'm doing a DS myself, but I am hoping to atleast try the PSP. The games I'm the most curious about are Hot Shots Golf, Ape Escape, and I think there's a Medievil game coming back, I loved the first 2 on the PS1. sega saturn x #15 Posted January 7, 2005 I to this day have never reserved a system and im not ging to start now. Basicly you get to spend 20 or 30 dollars more on the full price (wich is always high) and then get to chose from a crappy bunch of launch games no thanks. I havent seen a single good looking game for the psp yet all ive seen is get this ps2 ports! Who would of thunk it? Beside metal gear acid (no thanks) i have seen just about 0 original games on that thing.

sega saturn x #17 Posted January 7, 2005 Yeah that puzzle game but it dosent seam 200$ original i mean if sony can come up with a great original game that i cant get on another system ill get one the puzzle game looks cool but really it looks like it could have been done on the gba. Bust a move and darkstalkers are nice (i dont care for darkstalkers but thtas not the point) you can find better versions on other systems.
NE146 #18 Posted January 7, 2005 Why do I keep thinking of Paint Shop Pro whenever I see this topic
keilbaca #19 Posted January 7, 2005 I don't think I'm going to get one though, I played one at TGS this past year and I didn't like the feel for it. I recommend test playing before buying. And as stated before, wait for the 4th release by sony, they seem to fix all the problems by then
SS #20 Posted January 7, 2005 wait for the 4th release by sony, they seem to fix all the problems by then Everyone always says that but I own a launch week PS2 that I've never had a lick of trouble with. Of course, I don't use the thing very often either ...
CPUWIZ #21 Posted January 7, 2005 wait for the 4th release by sony, they seem to fix all the problems by then Everyone always says that Not me, I even own the very first Japanese release of the PS2, I never have any problems with Sony consoles. Invader_dag #22 Posted January 7, 2005 my problems with Sony stem from the experiance of owning the one thing of theirs that i do; the PSX. i got mine in 98, which was a red box or whatever they were calling the new model back then. and it still died 2 years later. completely died. only system i've ever had die on me before. But i also tend to believe that it is not their product, but just the fact that with all those moving parts, something is probably going to go bad at some point. I personally am not quite sure about either the DS or PSP. I'm leaning towards DS because it plays GBA games, has Nintendo made games, and i think will have some more innovative software. and the battery life is much better. I read on IGN(I hate them, i really do) that their battery tests for the PSP came out to be about 2 1/2 hours play time with brightness turned up decently high, and multiplayer running. It was also said that battery life was about 5 or maybe 6 hours for low light, regular gaming. I may have got those numbers completely wrong, but if anyone is interested, i'll find a link to it. Stingray #24 Posted January 7, 2005 I never have any problems with Sony consoles. Must be a kids thing. I've always thought that as well. I treat my game systems gently and have never had a problem with a Sony (or any other) system. -S
z28in82 #25 Posted January 7, 2005 We have never had any kind of problem with any of our consoles but we also take very good care of them. As for the PSP launch titles did you notice what was there for the DS. A remake of an N64 game, madden, ridge racer (cause that has been new in a while), a n-gage port(asphalt), urbz (ghetto sims, no thanks), two dating games (cause one just isn't enough) and spiderman2 (only 6 months too late). The system has been out a month and a half, thru it's first Christmas and still no good original game for the system. People bash a system that hasn't even launched yet and defend a system put out by a comapny who is making a mint off of 3-4 franchises over and over, mario, pokemon, metroid, and donkey kong. Does the world really need another mario kart port??
