StanJr #2 Posted October 29, 2001 I'll tell ya where it doesn't work, StellaX and PCAE. Stupid Ewoks were dumb in the movie anyway, Stan.
Adrian M #3 Posted October 29, 2001 I tried everything I could to get it to run on the Mac version of Stella. No amount of tweaking and hacking will get this ROM to run on Stella.
Alex #4 Posted October 29, 2001 It will surely be working soon in other emulators, and natively in z26. The emu authors just need a little time with the ROM to get the emu working with it. I'm sure we'll at least be posting about a new release of z26 in the next few days... When it's fully supported, you'll hear about it.
+Mitch #5 Posted October 29, 2001 It works on the Cuttle Cart as well. However, it doesn't auto-detect. You have to choose E0-Parker Brothers 8KB under bankswitch type for it to work. Mitch http://atari7800.atari.org
ubersaurus #6 Posted October 29, 2001 It's unfortunate my tv has no vertical hold nor good reception for a PAL game.
PeeknPoke #7 Posted October 29, 2001 It works in Z26 (With those -5 -g3 instructions) and its a top game, with some good gameplay elements, Real fun and wierd why it was not released??? Lee [ 10-29-2001: Message edited by: PeeknPoke ]
Eckhard Stolberg #8 Posted October 29, 2001 The ROM works nicely in Stella and PCAE too. For Stella you need to put a file called "stella.pro" into the working directory of the emulator and add the following lines to it: ---cut here--- "Cartridge.Name" "Star Wars - Ewok Adventure" "Cartridge.MacName" "Ewok Adventure" "Cartridge.Filename" "ewokadvn.bin" "Cartridge.Type" "E0" "Display.Format" "PAL" "" ---cut here--- I'm sure Voch will release a new version of the inofficial STELLA.PRO file shortly, which contains the proper checksum for this game as well. In PCAE for DOS you just need to start the ROM with the 'P' key for "Parker Brothers bankswitching". I don't know about the Windows version, but I think that a way to enable E0 bankswitching for a game exists as well. For z26, I have just added the nessessary code to the autodetection routine, but I'm not sure how long it will take before we can release it, as John is very busy at the moment, and we might need to fix some other bugs as well. I also updated the code for Playbin for the Cuttle Cart, so Chad might release a new version of that too sometime soon. Ciao, Eckhard Stolberg
Genki #9 Posted October 29, 2001 Anyone up to the task of hacking the ROM to play correctly on NTSC TV? Even if not for making your own cart for NTSC console, not all monitor will run in 50Hz. My monitor (LCD) won't go below 60 as it displays out of range error. [ 10-29-2001: Message edited by: wi1ykat ]
Marco(2) #10 Posted October 30, 2001 Somewhat off-topic perhaps, but I just have to let you guys know that EuroCon 2001 was great! The good thing about the show is that it's relatively small, which gives it a real nice atmosphere. It's just great to see 23 'strangers' turn into a group of friends overnight. It's the videogames that bring us together, but it's the people that connect. Yes, I'm still having all these warm feelings inside Cheers, Marco
PeeknPoke #11 Posted October 30, 2001 Marco, how did you like Blackpool then? I live about 30 miles from it and couldnt make the show but Blackpool is a great arcade town, loads of arcades, bit scruffy but great for beer! Lee
Marco(2) #12 Posted October 30, 2001 Hi Lee, Too bad you couldn't make it! We flew in from Amsterdam to Liverpool (EasyJet is really affordable) and then one of the organisors picked us up there. I could not believe my eyes when we went to Blackpool on Saturday night: that town's almost surrealistic We had great fun in the arcades indeed, though the big rollercoaster and beer really did it for us Cheers, Marco
Voch #13 Posted October 30, 2001 quote: Originally posted by Eckhard Stolberg: I'm sure Voch will release a new version of the inofficial STELLA.PRO file shortly, which contains the proper checksum for this game as well. It's updated. For Parker Bros games that don't work, I usually try Cartridge.Type of E0 first... Download the new Stella profile file here. If you've got your own stella.pro profile file, the checksum line for Star Wars: Ewok Adventure (Parker Bros) (PAL) is: "Cartridge.MD5" "6dfad2dd2c7c16ac0fa257b6ce0be2f0" I've removed the Cartridge.MacName field from the stella.pro as I just used it to rename my personal ROM collection to Mac friendly names (31 characters or less) but have stopped doing that for now (I just maintain a ZIP file for myself). No Stella versions actually use that field. I think I have all the recent stuff that Atari Age has pointed to added to the current stella.pro (the entry before this addition is the Atari Computer Chess prototype). If not, drop me a line (my e-mail is in the stella.pro header). Voch [ 10-30-2001: Message edited by: Voch ]
Marco(2) #14 Posted November 1, 2001 So, any comments upon the game? I'm a little surprised so few people have commented upon this one... Cheers, Marco

Scott Stilphen #16 Posted November 2, 2001 Too busy playing it Control takes a bit to get used to. Maybe that's why it was held (?) back? You can't manuever fast enough to really avoid any enemy fire (if you had to); they either have a "bead" on you, or they don't. The one thing that's annoying is if you crash, the replacement is placed so that if you don't make a bee line for a convection current *immediately*, you'll crash again. Sound effects are good, and the animation of the AT-ST's and Troopers are great. Although I still rank ESB #1, it's certainly not the worst of the Star Wars games. I managed to find the programmer's initials (as described by Larry Gelberg), but instead of finding 'LG', it shows 'TG' (?). Not sure what to make of that... Tempest #17 Posted November 2, 2001 Maybe a different programmer did the PAL conversion and altered the initals? Tempest
moycon #18 Posted November 2, 2001 quoteSo, any comments upon the game? I'm a little surprised so few people have commented upon this one... Comment: Its good. Seriously this would have been a fine addition to the 2600 library. All the Star Wars games were good in my opinion and this is no exception. But yeah Stan... It would be a much better game if you could kill a few of the Ewoks. *Yub- Yub BOOOM ARRRRHHH!!*
Scott Stilphen #19 Posted November 4, 2001 On the 3rd level (and up), the top and bottom borders are blue, instead of red. If you pick up an Ewok, they turn red. According to Dan Skelton (http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Lair/9260/ewok.html), this makes the glider easier to fly, but I don't see much of a difference. If you beat the 6th level, the screen will briefly say "Tribe Member!"
Scott Stilphen #20 Posted November 7, 2001 Getting the hang of it now After a certain point, it doesn't get any harder (at the highest level - the bunker will always be 10 screens over to the left from where you start. One thing the game could use is a sound cue to let you know when your control of a SB or AT-ST is about to run out, especially when trying to detonate the bunker- if you get control of one too far from the bunker, you can suddenly find yourself reverting to a glider (at full speed) right in front of it, w/o enough room to slow down or turn. Scott Stilphen #21 Posted November 8, 2001 Found a pretty nasty bug in the game. If you crash an AT-ST into the bottom mountain range, you're "rewarded" with garbled graphics:
