All my Nes games are in their respective dust covers and inside of zip-top bags. I have all of my cartridge games in zip-top bags appropriately sized. I think I only 3 or 4 different sizes to cover all of my games.

Most of my games have their sleeves and the ones I play more are in an

official nintendo horiztonal browsing rack, and the rest are in large 8 - 16 (bit)

mini shelves.

(My snes games have their own official nintendo mini shelf.)

I just started in collecting for the NES this past week, so the 9 carts I have are still in the EBGames bag they came in. :D

A great rule of thumb is that NES carts are about the size of a CD, only thicker. They won't fit inot any CD cases that have slots to hold the discs, but any sort of shelving unit or storage case (see: Ikea) that is wide enough to stack or store CDs will fit NES games also

We got this one at a yard sale for $10, but I know they sell for about 30ish. It's fancy and looks nice w/ our wood furniture plus all our different sized carts or discs could fit even if we switch around what goes where. :)

on a bookshelf in stacks, i figure if the board end is pressed flush with the back of the shelf its not getting much dust. i've got no use for the dust covers, i'm 90% complete on that system and i've been throwing the sleeves in a box for years. if anybody should ever want a crapload of NES sleeves i'm taking trade offers :)

good tip on the CD racks, i might look into that, i felt so clever storing my SMS/genny games like cassette tapes.

LOL forgot hubby was signed in. OOPS... |icon_innocent.gif

Anyway, That's a VHS/DVD/Media cabinet, and for those w/ kids it has keys to lock it too which is a nice bonus.

I was actually wondering if they would work in a cassette holder. :ponder: Thanks for the info.

Congrats on being 90% complete w/ your NES by the way - must have taken a while and a lot of space. :D

yep you can fit loose genny and SMS carts in tape rack, you can also fit loose jaguar, 32x and of course astrocade carts in there as well. i also put my loose INTV and cased game gear games in them. these things are piling up at the thrifts so pick up 4 or so of the "napa wine" type and you've got a nice looking wall mountable unit.

suprisingly or not getting this far with an NES collection isnt all that hard, compared to the classic systems. thanks to nintendos licensing policy you dont have a lot of little devolopers with small distribution like you do on the 2600. finding most games is simply a matter of keeping a good list and being patient. although it was a lot easier in the funco years, i'd go out thrifting in the morning buying every cheap genny and S/NES set i found and then around lunch i'd hit funco and trade in my found systems for NES games :D

i've got a big ol book shelf thats about 4ft wide and 8.5 tall, its nearly full up but there should be room for the last games, assuming i ever get em all.

All of them in dust sleeves, and most of them are on a bookshelf stacked in alphabetical order. I did however take out the Camerica, American Video, and generally "off color" carts from third parties and put them in seperate snap-lock stackable bins.

Just keep mine on a shelf, but then I don't have a huge number of NES carts.

Bookshelf at the moment. NES carts aren't problem for me since they have endlabels. I want to castrate the jackasses that designed the 5200 and N64 carts with no endlabels. What a PITA to store these nicely and still be able to find stuff easily.

I use plastic Iris drawer sets that I got at Rite Aid. It was about a year ago and they actually have them in again (they're a seasonal item). The ones in the store now are a littlle different though... and it looks like it could be a good thing as it looks like the new ones could hold the games with plastic sleeves.... What's also cool about them is you can snap off the top cover, and clip on another set ontop. now if they were just half an inch taller they could even hold the games with boxes...

Anyway, I'll probably buy some later on this month since I actually filled up all the ones I have so far.

I use a punch label emboser to deal with that issue. Looks nice and uniform and can be removed without too much trouble.

Right now I mostly keep my loose NES carts (and a few other kinds of carts too) in these real nice cardboard boxes that Rudy's BBQ uses for takeout orders. They're big, they're sturdy, and they don't use any glue at all, which means they have to be stronger than a normal box. I end up with about a box a month on average from people at work ordering lunches for long meetings. Best of all, they're free.

I know, I wrote the names of the games on the end of my N64 carts. Don't some 5200 games have endlabels.

Only 3rd party like Parker Bros, Sega, etc. The majority of 5200 gmes are made by Atari though and they don't have the endlabels.

I have one of those I was going to trash since I emptied out old VHS tapes. Never thought of using it for NES, but now...

For my loose carts I have plastic tubs with lids. I think each holds about 50-60. For boxed games, the boxes that a case of paper comes in are just the right size and hold quite a few, maybe 30-40ish and a few on top lying flat. Can put up some pics and info on the boxes if anyone is interested.
