What do you store your NES games in?

Recommended Posts

Ehh... mine are all upright in alphabetical orded in my Sterlite box thing that I also use to store SNES and N64 games and my extra N64 controllers and memory cards.

I only have 9 NES games and 4 SNES games though, and like 15 N64.

I don't really like stacking them one on top of another because it can damage the labels of the carts and can eventually crack the carts themselves.

I know what you mean. After a little toying around with some arrangements I found that stacking vertically with their dust sleeves makes for minimal weight on any particular cart while maximizing volume..

GigerMagic1.txt

For the record 10 carts stacked face to back seems to be the max before the dust sleeves can't support themselves.. I limit the top row to 5.

Yes that is a rubber whale, btw. ;)

The rubbermaid container that you posted is the ULTIMATE when it comes to holding NES games. It holds 46 carts (16 on each side, and 14 in the middle) perfectly! These cost $8 at Lowes.

I also bought a 3 case in 1 sterillite from Lowes that holds 76 games in each box (you do the math. :D ). It cost around $20 I think.

Either of these is a great choice to hold you NES collection, but I like the 2nd one better, because it takes up less space.

I'll post a picture when I get around to D/L-ing the contents of my dig vid cam card to my HD then clearing the card (it's full now)

But basically, I have these old shelves where they each have three shelves and each shelf is tall enough to hold two rows of CDs stacked on top of eachother with about 80 CDs per row. There are two of these shelves, (so six shelves)and they each have three rows on them.

So I use 40qty CD crates x2 per shelf then using cardboard and packing tape, I build a holder off the crate for the 2nd row (the shelves are tall enough for two rows of CDs, or a row in a crate and a row on top of a crate, but not quite enough for two rows of crates, thus the cardboard borne 2nd shelf)

At the top of these two shelves about flush with my ceiling is a 150 (or so) CD crate.

I store my games that come in standard size CD cases in there and all my cartridge games that don't have cases as well.

The CD/DVD games that come in DVD cases or larger, and the cartridge based games that do still have cases go on these on a different shelf next to this one.

And it's just a regular old walmart 250CD 180DVD upright shelf, and I have like 4 of them split between games and VHS and DVD and CDS.

Then I have this shelf that is a metal one that looks like it was intended for a garage where you'd keep your paint and saws and stuff, but it just happens to fit Vinyl records perfectly, so I keep my records and my 3DO games and computer software that's still in it's original jumbo box on this shelf along with my unlabled blank VHS cassettes. (I also have "Quest for the Ring on Odyssey 2 and I keep it there too)

I'll post a picture here soon, but that's how I store my stuff, NES and otherwise.

I keep my games on a little bookshelf that I try to display prominently in my dormroom. It sucked last year when I got back from a weekend at home and found that my roommate had hidden it over in the corner. Right now it's out of space and I have to put my master system games up on the top. I arange my games by publisher, so these days I tend to shy away from companies like Absolute and Acclaim because I would have to move all my other games down a space.

If I was very handy, I would make a giant shelf complete with dividers that would hold about 700 games. I guess I kinda collect video games like I play them and I like to have a large empty list and fill it in as I go.

I can understand that, Nester. I have to feel like I have room for expansion. For instance, I'm not maxing the shelf out. I can add about 200-250 more games to the shelf before I'm maxed and then I'll just have to get creative.
