Your longest gameplay record

Recommended Posts

I recently saw a show on TV about people who are obsessed with the Madden football game. These people play Madden for hours on end - it was one of the saddest things I'd seen in a few days. I mean playing games is fun, but it's gone too far when showering and human interaction become special occasions. This leads me to the question what's the longest uninterrupted period of gameplay you have ever experienced, excluding bathroom and snack breaks? I remember when my friend first got Mario 3 for her birthday, everybody stayed up all night taking turns playing it. I guess that's not really uninterrupted individual gameplay, but you get the point.

Excluding bathroom breaks, probably about 5, but with bathroom breaks and maybe one snack that i ate while playing, about 10 hours.

I played E.T. on the Atari 2600 for days in a row without turning it off so I could see If I could find the Yar again or turn E.T. black again. I don't know how many hours in a row, but it was basically all day for many days. Vacations, weekends, things like that.

I do a similar thing with games I rent or even buy today. I'll play for 8 hours or something, eat, and play some more. You have to play it while you can because you don't know if it or you will be here tomorrow.

Probably when I was playing EverCrack and wasn't working. I'd play basically all day long. Although, I wasn't so bad as to have a pee cup like some crazy addicted players. I did eat in the computer room a few times tho. :)

I once spent three days playing FF7 without leaving my dorm room except to s#$t, eat, and shower. I must have had some 12-15 hour stretches of solid gameplay in that time.

Ah yeah. I put some insane hours in on that game. The roughest (though not the longest) was when I got the omnislash. I sat there for 4 or 5 hours just fighting in the battle arena. After I got it and tried it once, I had to take a long break. I've also put some long hours into Starcraft. And of course when I was a kid, I did it all the time with a lot of games.

Ah back when I was in high school before I got a job I used to pull some good ole 6-8 hours and continued to do so after I got a job and had free time on weekends and breaks off school. Those were the days. Now I waste all my time on graphic design, papers, my website, attempting to appear slightly sociable, and work.

Does Tabletop RPG's count? If so, I once with a couple of friends spent 8 hours on a single game of D & D.

About 13.5 hrs playing Gauntlet II (with my best friend) on the Atari ST the first night i got it. I played for about another 2.5 hrs straight after that (some other games) when my friends came over to see the system (cutting edge back then :D ). So, altogether, @ 16 Hours STRAIGHT! (then i hybernated for about 2 days  )

I tend to be a bit of a binge gamer. My most recent binge was when I was working on Fallout: Brotherhood. Where I logged about 11 hrs in a sitting interuppted only by my girlfriend wanting attention and I wanted to finish the chapter. :| Actually, I did finish the game that night. While enjoyable, I found that the replay value is somewhat broken in that the storyline seems to be about the same for every character. It is fun to at least unlock the other playable characters. I wonder if there are any more.

Then I finally sat and logged about 2.5 on ff7 last night while 'testing' a copy of the game. I would have played more, but I was getting hungry.

mmmm.... gil for chili?

Hex.

[ Robotic cottages that attack? weird. ]

14 hours playing Halo multiplayer what it first came out. We started with 4 people and ended with two.

Back in the day in (I think) Time Bandits for the Atari ST there were a few places where you could prop the fire button down with a heavy book or something and come back with a zillion points and extra lives. I did that for a few days, playing off and on, then got bored and shut it off.

I think I also had playing binges on Missle Command for the Atari 800 and (strangely) Text Twist on Yahoo games -- played for a few hours to 500,000 points before I got bored and knocked off.

I once played Laser Blast from Activision on my 2600 for about 7 hours straight. Man that was soooooooooo boring. It's virtually impossible to lose in that game unless you're fooling around.

I once played my Coleco tabletop Pac-Man for like 4-5 hours straight. I had the pattern down in my head and couldn't lose.

We were going to setup an "arcade" in my friends bedroom and charge kids some money to get in and all three of us brought our handheld games over.

I did that too, so I could get the patch. I remember finally getting the high score, and then I couldn't figure out how to take the stupid picture of the screen.

My longest gaming session had to be when I played through Shadowrun for the Genesis straight through when I was in college. I'm not sure how long I was there, but I skipped all of my classes. I also had a gigantic session of Coach K College Basketball for the Genesis, but that was mainly because the entire Indiana University basketball team decided to come into by dorm room so they could play as themselves. I wanted to get some sleep, but they just wouldn't leave!
