Atari-Jess
Hello everyone, Yes yes, I'm asking one of the "taboo" questions I guess. But, I need to know how to properly backup my games. I've already scratched up my Tempest 2000 music disc and so I am now worried about my JagCD games (I'm really clumsy) How do I make backups of these games and then burn them to CDRs? Attached to post, is photo-evidence that I have Jag CD games, And if you look at my post "Your cool nook" you can see my gaming section in which you can see the laptop featured, and other idenifying things. The reason I'm being so thorough is cause I know that some of you Jaguar fans are very very against the duplication of games since everyone would go "ooh pirate eval eval!" As a collector I believe I have some legitimate concerns about the lifespan of my games and so I am asking how to properly duplicate my games so I can put the real copies away for safekeeping. Thanks guys

Thanks guys I've found NTI Platinum session only recording works the best. Some will copy with Clone CD as well, but not all.
Atari-Jess
Is there anything fancy I need to do? No special settings for the jaguar? Just tell it to duplicate and let it go?

Just make sure that your CDR can write MultiSession Discs.

justclaws
Hello, I just noticed that your old backup question which I missed does overlap with my new question about burning CD-R's for new games, as I recently got Ocean Depths, and it is the first CD-R my Jag-CD cannot read. Also, I cannot back it up to-date, to see if another CD-R will work better with my JagCD. It's the first time I've had the problem. How did you get on? Cheers, JustClaws. Htbaa
The way I back up my Jaguar games (I only have Blue Lightening and Myst , and BIWN but that's a backup already ) is with the program called Alcohol 120%. I just let it create an image of the cd and then burn it to a cd. Wonderful program .
Mindfield
I use Alcohol for my other image burning needs, but it is ineed quite a good program. I'll have to look into those D-Skins... those would be great to protect my CD games. Kind of like screen protectors, only for CDs...
MegaManFan
When you own literally hundreds and hundreds of disc based games (not just Jaguar) those D-Skins become highly impractical. Look how much one costs and multiply. If they sold them in 50 packs for $10-$15, then I'd start using them.
Lemmi
i dont even pay that much per CDR there is no way i would buy those yet best buy has some for $45 in a 50 pack

justclaws
Hello, The way I back up my Jaguar games (I only have Blue Lightening and Myst , and BIWN but that's a backup already ) is with the program called Alcohol 120%. I just let it create an image of the cd and then burn it to a cd. Wonderful program .Thanks, I tried a few settings, but then discovered that just the audioCD settings backed up Ocean Depths for me OK. Clone CD had failed, and Nero failed too. The backup indeed works, and original still fails. These "CD condoms" haven't made it to the UK as far as I can see. Does anybody have good experience of any of these "CD skimmers" which shave the scratches off damaged CDs? My IS-II CD-R original is now damaged, and with Telegames prices I'm now IS-II CD-less. I wish I'd made a backup, but normally I take great care of Jag stuff! Cheers, JustClaws.
Stone
These "CD condoms" haven't made it to the UK as far as I can see. Virgin used to sell them, they might have stopped. They seem a bit faddy and could be difficult to apply...looks liek consumers voted with their feet. Since it's just the one CD, try dropping by Toys'R'Us and asking them to do it - they charge per-CD to restore them with some high-end kit. Would be very expensive for multiple CDs (it's in the region of £2-5 per disc) but far cheaper than buying a new IS2... Stone

They're just like warehouses. I wonder if a large Dutch one might have the same equipment. Hmm. Anybody else in Netherlands had any luck with these? Back to the original topic, it seems NDI Platinum is recommended by various people, it seems to be the successor of sorts to CloneCD, it for sure has dedicated options for Playstation CD's etc., and is ~ $50. I'm going to try my modern fast CD writer as well as my old and (NUON and Jaguar CD-R writing capable) old CD-writer for this... Cheers to all contributors! JustClaws. Fredifredo
Eh Richard ! I have got a DVD burner Lite-On, it wasn't very expensive and it supports all the format ( DVD-R and DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD+RW DL ) and CD+G ! ( read and write !) My local one's like that (went in to get an Xbox pad) but they have a service area off to one side where they keep all the games - the box they sell you is empty and you go off to one side after paying for it to redeem it for a shrinkwrapped version. The service area had a seperate queue area and a little sign up advertising resurfacing. HTH Stone
