krazy_kamino #1 Posted January 19, 2005 hey everybody. i've got a box of 17 sealed 7800 games comin'. Pole Position II Centipede Joust Dig Dug *Ninja Golf Ms. Pac Man *Donkey Kong *Donkey Kong Junior *Ballblazer *Dark Chambers *Cracked *Baseball Hat Trick *Scrapyard Dog *Jinks *One on One Xevious The titles with asterisk are the ones I am in need of for my 7800 collection and thus plan to open. My question is: is it even worth my time to try and trade these for unsealed copies? Or should I just crack 'em open?
+RandomPerson #2 Posted January 19, 2005 Those are all fairly common titles. I would just open'em up. Thats what I do with mine as mos the 7800 games I get are new and I open'em up. Heck, Actually I throw away the box & manual most the time too!! I hate boxes!!

+davidcalgary29 #4 Posted January 19, 2005 I advise you to keep "Jinks" sealed...for other reasons.
krazy_kamino #5 Posted January 19, 2005 I advise you to keep "Jinks" sealed...for other reasons. I detect slight disgust for jinks.
spacecadet #6 Posted January 20, 2005 Aren't most of these O'Shea's games? I'm sure I bought at least a few of these from them (I stupidly didn't get a full selection before they jacked up the prices). If so, as far as I'm concerned they're still worth 80 cents each. Though you could obviously get more for them on ebay
SteveW #7 Posted January 20, 2005 I'd definitely open Scrapyard Dog, Ninja Golf, and Ballblazer. Those are three really fun games, and you won't regret opening them.
spacecadet #8 Posted January 20, 2005 Ok, I just checked the list again and all but at most three of these are O'Shea's games. You can get them from the world-famous O'Shea Ltd. for five bucks a piece, and they at least used to advertise that they have 11 million Atari cartridges in stock. This was when they were selling them for 80 cents, though; they actually have sold out of a few titles so I'd probably keep those sealed. Here's the list of their 7800 games, but check the order form and you can see what they're sold out of: Atari Game Cartridges 7800 Series: Centipede / Asteroids / Dig Dug / Galaga / Joust / Ms Pac-Man / Pole Position / Xevious / Ballblazer / Scrapyard Dog/Basketball / Hat Tricks / Winter Games / Baseball / Dark Chambers / Donkey Kong / Donkey Kong Jr / Tower Toppler / Jinks / Barnyard Blaster / Ninja Golf / Meltdown / Robotron / Super Huey //Desert Falcon . If I was smart, and I'm sure a lot of people here did do this, I'd have bought at least two copies of every game they had back when they were selling them for 80 cents each. There's nothing quite like being the first person ever to open something that's been sealed up for 20 years, and to not feel guilty about it because you've got another one still sealed. Unfortunately I was barely making a living wage at the time they were doing that so I only got one each of about half the titles they had, and fewer of the 7800 games than the 2600 because I didn't (and still don't) even own a 7800. But anyway, I'd open the ones you want to play and just order replacement sealed copies if you want them. The crappy games and the games you can't replace I'd probably just keep sealed, unless there's supposed to be a catalog or something inside (I don't know if any of these have anything like that). Unfortunately, at five bucks these things are no longer totally disposable
eric_ruck #9 Posted January 24, 2005 I've been out of the 7800 market for awhile (completed my collection a few years ago) but I thought a few of those titles are starting to get rare, and maybe someone does want one or two of those sealed. I thought Ninja Golf was one of them. Also, while Ninja Golf wins points for originality and strangeness, this was never one of my favorites, although a lot of people liked it. Frankly my favorites are some of the most common, including Asteroids and Joust. The not so common Food Fight is also a fantastic game, as is Commando. tyranthraxus #10 Posted January 24, 2005 Ninja Golf is the only rare game in that lot but the rest are dirt common and I would argue that they are more common as sealed games than as opened ones because of the millions in Osheas underground warehouse. I opened up my sealed copies ages ago and have not regreted it for a minute. It was fun to open them up and some included that nice poster/catalog of the Atari games lineup. Unfortunately, at five bucks these things are no longer totally disposable I contacted O'Shea's two years ago when I was looking for "Scrapyard Dog", and they advised that they had sold out of everything but the common titles (available from a number of sources). They didn't seem to be any less expensive -- when shipping was factored into the price -- than other retailers, so I bought my sealed games from a dedicated Atari vendor.
