The_Cane_Toad #1 Posted January 24, 2005 Hello Gentlemen, I got a query about a game called Tomboy, and there was little info on this sites databse, other than confirming the game exsists Its been years since I played it, but as i recall it was bascially a Pitfall! ripoff, similar sort of gameplay, but much easier, with no crocodiles, no brick walls, and only rubys as the treasure. I saw a copy in the local thrift shop, but it is closed on Mondays, rest assured I will aquire my copy tomorrow, but in the mean time, does anyone know anything about this game? Mindfield #2 Posted January 24, 2005 Just a Taiwan pirate, like the other pirates/hacks of Pitfall! (Dschungle Boy, et al.) There are tons of Brazilian/Asian/European hacks floating around out there. Even Canadian retailer Zellers ripped off some foriegn hacks and released them in Canada 'til Atari sent them a C&D.
moycon #3 Posted January 24, 2005 Yep it's a hack of Pitfall! Hilarious instructions, in broken english are featured on the back of the box.
sku_u #4 Posted January 24, 2005 All I know about it is that it is one of many unlicensed hacks of Pitfall that are floating around out there.
The_Cane_Toad #5 Posted January 24, 2005 So there are many hacks/pirates of Pitfall!? Thats pretty interesting, shall have to keep an eye out for them. Hilarious instructions, in broken english are featured on the back of the box. Do you have a copy of them, Moycon? It could make for interesting reading. The_Cane_Toad #7 Posted January 24, 2005 I can just imagine someone with a Tawainese accent reading that out. Spider Monster Leopards? Just cant compete with the good ole Cobra Rattlers
Damon Plus #8 Posted January 24, 2005 I could not finish Tomboy, as it seems you can´t use the underground passages.
Lauren Tyler #9 Posted January 24, 2005 Not to mention, doesn't the cover art look like something out of the Jungle Book? I mean, the character on the front looks like Mowgli! (Yet on the back it calls Tom Boy a girl?)
Mindfield #10 Posted January 24, 2005 Not to mention, doesn't the cover art look like something out of the Jungle Book? I mean, the character on the front looks like Mowgli! (Yet on the back it calls Tom Boy a girl?) The box art is a straight copy of Quelle's "Dschungel Boy" ("Jungle Boy") hack, so it makes sense in that context. moycon #11 Posted January 24, 2005 Indeed Tom Boy is a girl in this hack as the instructions clearly state. Bare breasts on the front of an Atari 2600 box, what could be better.
ozatariprincess #12 Posted January 24, 2005 The game was made by rainbow vision a PAL company, its about a rarity 4 in Australia.

codyr783 #14 Posted April 24, 2007 Im amazed they let this label get out of the labs.Think of the faces of the moms who read the back of the box finding out theres a nude chick on the front. I smell a racism conspiracy!
almightytodd #15 Posted April 24, 2007 Is there a ROM file anywhere for this? (...and what are the ethical implications of using a pirated ROM file that is of a pirated hack of another game?)
