Atarian7 #1 Posted January 30, 2005 Is it Kaboom!, Seaquest, or dragster? Or another game. Please rate the top 5 fastest games.
keilbaca #2 Posted January 30, 2005 Kaboom by far. Its even faster than DDR arrows!
video game addict #3 Posted January 30, 2005 Dragster's definitely the quickest one for me when it comes time to hit reset, about once every 10-15 seconds. start game, wait for the lights, then blow motor trying to change to 3rd gear, reset game, wait on lights again, maybe finish around 7 sec range, hit reset, try again.... over & over again. bjk7382 #4 Posted January 30, 2005 Spider Fighter is pretty quick for a 2600 game, but I think kaboom is still the fastest.
Cootster #5 Posted January 31, 2005 The high levels of Crackpots and Beamrider are at least as fast as Kaboom, IMO . . . Of course, technically, they're all 60Hz(NTSC) or 50Hz(PAL) But Activision games just look faster . . . Maybe it's the striped logo?
cimerians #6 Posted January 31, 2005 If your talking simply controls...then its Dragster, you need to be inhumanly quick on flippin' those gears. Don't get me wrong, Kaboom is a very close second. Another game I would place on this list is Cosmic Ark.
PaulEMoz #7 Posted January 31, 2005 Chopper Command gets pretty fast when you get far into the game....
homerwannabee #8 Posted January 31, 2005 I dont think spider fighter is that quick its one of those games I can play forever
adams_ale #9 Posted January 31, 2005 Are we talking about how quick a game is to reach the ending or the speed of gameplay? or both? For the quickest game to completion there is no other shorter than Dragster. Strawberry Shortcake is thankfully very short, while TCM is unfortunately over too soon. The quickest games in terms of gameplay speed might be Kaboom, Jr. Pacman, and Dragster(if you call this a game).

I haven't played Jr. Pac-Man, is he simply moving around the maze real fast?
yuppicide #11 Posted January 31, 2005 Spider Fighter gets pretty fast with them shooting down at you.
bjk7382 #12 Posted January 31, 2005 Spider Fighter gets pretty fast with them shooting down at you. Also when you get to the banana level with the difficulty switch on A (expert)

I haven't played Jr. Pac-Man, is he simply moving around the maze real fast? Him and the ghosts; eep! Have a good, well-responding controller for that one! Tunnel Runner gets damn fast once you get through about 10 Runs or so. The 3-D scrolling's something else!
SteveW #14 Posted January 31, 2005 What about Fast Food? Once a few levels go by, the food starts to scream past almost too fast for your eyes to keep up with.
moycon #15 Posted January 31, 2005 The dragons in Suicide Adventure
DeV0 #16 Posted January 31, 2005 Jawbreaker gets pretty spazzy after a while, Id stick with kaboom though
Video #17 Posted January 31, 2005 Tunnel Runner gets damn fast once you get through about 10 Runs or so. The 3-D scrolling's something else! Tunnel runner also gets my vote. At the sheer speed you ran down the halls and swung around corners on that game, it was very hard to keep up later on. This game proved at the time, beyond the shadow of a doubt that a First Person game was doable. Just a shame nobody then caught onto that fact. Dragster is the fastes in terms of how long it takes to finish the game. It's the only game I know of you can loose in five seconds, and still have fun. I always thought it was a funny sound hearing the rev up and moter expload.

+FujiSkunk #19 Posted February 1, 2005 Where's the Turmoil love? Turmoil gets fast, no doubt about it, but Kaboom! and company still get much faster. Notice how it's mostly Activision titles getting the vote.

sku_u #21 Posted February 1, 2005 Ms. Pacman gets really fast in the later stages. So does Defender on the harder settings.
ZylonBane #22 Posted February 1, 2005 Space Master X-7 gets pretty insanely fast at the higher levels.
+Nathan Strum #23 Posted February 1, 2005 Challenge of Nexar starts throwing stuff at you really fast. That has to be somewhere in the top five, velocity-wise.
Tickled_Pink #24 Posted February 2, 2005 Frostbite (one of the best games on the 2600 imho) gets pretty damned hectic after a while.
NovaXpress #25 Posted February 2, 2005 Don't forget Tac-Scan, at the high levels it's just "press and pray"
