Buyatari #1 Posted February 3, 2005 I did a search and came up with many many links. However, I couldn't find one which was a quick and easy free download. Are there any out there? Adam
bjk7382 #2 Posted February 3, 2005 www.esnipe.com is free for the first few times you use it. And after that it is only .25 cents for each snipe that wins. (you can set as many losing bids as you want)
MrRetroGamer #3 Posted February 3, 2005 http://www.vrane.com/ has some tools, snipe being one of them. You can only set up one active sinpe at a time unless you get the premium service.
video game addict #4 Posted February 3, 2005 www.esnipe.com is free for the first few times you use it. And after that it is only .25 cents for each snipe that wins. (you can set as many losing bids as you want) It's free to lose, but yes it costs to win. But it's actually a precentage of the auction total. Anything below $25 is .25 cents, but if you win a $500 auction it is $5 for the winning snipe. I've paid out a bit over $170 in the last year & a half using this service. bjk7382 #5 Posted February 3, 2005 I've paid out a bit over $170 in the last year & a half using this service. Wow. You must use it for mostly items over 25 dollars. I mainly use it for cheap items here and there. And I don't buy many expensive items, so I think my first 10 dollars I put in there lasted over 6 months
video game addict #6 Posted February 3, 2005 Sometimes, but I'm just lazy & leave alot in there to snipe when I could be doing it myself. I've used it since May of '03. There are over 30 pages of past snipes in my bid wizard thingy, and another 12 in the deleted file. Some of the deleted were done prior to bidding. I bid on alot of things, don't always win, but for the ones I have won, it adds up. The price of being lazy I guess. I would love to find a free snipe program, but I don't believe such a site exists, unless I'm doing like 1-2 snipes a week. Of course Marco claims sniping is useless anyway. So I think anyone who wants to bid just go ahead and throw it all out on the line.

Well, I think if you pay for a full version of the software snipers you will only have that one time fee, but you also will have to rely on your internet connection and computer to make the snipe and not esnipe's dedicated servers. video game addict #9 Posted February 3, 2005 Is there anything better? The fees at esnipe are what they are. And I would want it on a separate server. My connection goes offline quite frequently if I'm not around. I couldn't keep something on my computer to snipe for me.
pmpddytim #10 Posted February 3, 2005 I just bid what I'm willing to bid. If someone else is willing to pay more, good for them.
Esc #11 Posted February 3, 2005 I use AuctionTamer. Its good for selling and buying from eBay. Keeps track of auctions and everything...also does sniping locally, or you can use a third-party sniper like esnipe. http://www.auctiontamer.com/ref.asp?aid=4828
Draikar #12 Posted February 3, 2005 Snipe programs takes the fun out of the game of winning and bidding. I got my time to a 1 sec snipe...
Marco #13 Posted February 3, 2005 Of course Marco claims sniping is useless anyway. So I think anyone who wants to bid just go ahead and throw it all out on the line. Heheh, well, as I see it, if you know what you are willing to pay for an item and you have some control over your actions, you can easily save yourself the costs of sniping and not overpay for items. Cheers, Marco
sku_u #14 Posted February 3, 2005 The sniping service I use is free. It's called multiple windows. Seriously, why bother paying for it when you can do it free manually? Are there that many things on Ebay worth sniping? I think I sniped about a dozen items last year. It's not worth sniping a $5 item.
Buyatari #15 Posted February 3, 2005 Marco its not your control that affects the end price. Its the self control of the second highest bidder. If he places a single bid and sees he is not the highest bidder he might place a second bid. Had the first bid been successful for the time he placed it he would not have bid on it twice. If you want to win for the least ammount possible snipping is the only way. Adam
YOK-dfa #16 Posted February 3, 2005 Another good reason to snipe is that ebay allows people to see what other people are bidding on. If you bid early you are basically advertising to the world "look, i found something interesting". If you snipe the auction is over by the time 'they' see it. Although you could always change your nationality to a country that has more strict privacy laws (Germany comes to mind) to prevent others seeing the auctions you bid on. But i do agree with Marco. Sniping on very sought-after items is not worth the hassle. It's only effective against Ebay newbies...
sku_u #17 Posted February 3, 2005 I have a question about sniping that maybe one of you guys who do it all the time can answer for me: I've been bidding on a lot of low demand stuff lately, mainly breweriana a for my bar I'm building and some odd/end 3rd party joysticks. On several occasions, different people have come in on these items with 1-5 seconds left and tried to snipe me at the minimum bid increment increase (a quarter to 50 cents). Is there a purpose to sniping that low? I've always put in the ceiling of what I'd be wiling to spend on something when setting up a snipe. I don't think I'm being shilled since it's been on a few different things from different sellers. I've won every one of these items through my proxy. Not just by happening to stumble across something I may have bid on? If that's the case, it shouldn't be that way. Some jerks could use that to harass people. I of course reported them to EBAY.
