maibock #1 Posted February 10, 2005 During lunch here at work, I try to spend time playing something to take my mind off of running a manufacturing business. Today's whim was "Remote Control" on the NES via emulation. I have a love hate relationship with the actual TV show on MTV which aired in the mid 80's. It was a fun show, but unfortunately it paved the way for today's Mtv which rarely shows actual videos and as a note, Colin Quinn started out on this show. It was known for it's low budget props and laid back attitude and corny jokes. The game was a fun, but easy to play. It brought back some memories of the tv show. Even if you never watched the show, you should enjoy some of the questions as most are from the 80's culture. It's basically a quiz show. The only part I was hoping for, which the game didn't have was the last part of the tv show, where the winner got to guess videos. Obviously the NES limited the game play. give it a shot! I destroyed the other 2 contestants 175 - 10 -
Stingray #2 Posted February 10, 2005 Well I loved the show as a teenager, and was unaware that a NES version existed. I'll have to keep my eyes open for that one. Thanks for reminding me about that show, I'm always up for a good blast from the past. I now have the theme song running in my head! I l'll tell you one thing, if you wanted a Suburu Justy, Remote Control was just the game show for you. I'd speculate that half of the Justys in the US were originally prizes given away on Remote Control! -S
n8littlefield #3 Posted February 10, 2005 That's funny - we went out shopping for old games this weekend and that was the first game my wife picked out. I haven't had a chance to play it, but she was insistant that Remote Control is a good game. I got my DS last night - so it may be a few days before I see if she's telling the truth... 128bytes #16 Posted February 11, 2005 Abe Vigoda - Dead or Alive? http://www.abevigoda.com/ According to them... he's quite alive. is I know Abe Vigoda's alive In fact, he made a cameo on Conan last week. I posted that because that's an actual question from Remote Control. One of my favorite segments was "Dead or Alive", where they would ask if an old celebrity was dead or alive and you had to guess! chrisbid #17 Posted February 11, 2005 http://www.vgmuseum.com/images/nes/01/remo...otecontrol.html it was made by the people of gametek, that seemingly only published game shows for the NES, including 85 versions of wheel of fortune, 193 versions of Jeopardy, as well as NES versions of Family Feud, Win Lose or Draw, Classic Concentration, and probably some other obscure shows from the 80's, though nobody ever made a video game for the Price is Right but Remote Control has this horrible NES BGM of the Remote Control theme that plays throughout the title screen, the options, and all rounds of gameplay. its fun to play and laugh at with a friend.
