+RangerG #1 Posted December 27, 2001 I have an Atari 2600 and a Colecovision hooked up via VCR to a Commodore 1702 monitor. The Atari 2600 has a much better picture than the Colecovision. Why? Is this just my machines or is this true for others? I have hooked up different Colecos and they both have a worse picture. I have switched channels, adjusted the monitor, but the 2600 gets the better picture/video output. I thought the Colecovision would surely get a better picture than the older 2600. Comments? Thanks -- RG
ATARIPITBULL #2 Posted December 27, 2001 If you are talking about the quality of the picture, my Colecovision picture quality is the same as my 2600. I don't see any problems playing my Colecovision on my t.v., not even a flicker.
+RangerG #3 Posted December 27, 2001 ataripitbull -- I didn't think there should be a difference. Maybe it's my monitor. I will try them on a newer television set. Thanks -- RG
Albert #4 Posted December 27, 2001 Perhaps the ColecoVision is outputting a weaker video signal? I remember the last time I hooked up a ColecoVision I was getting a horrible picture. If you're using a switchbox you might try using a female RCA -> Coaxial F-Type adapter, which you can get for $2 at Radio Shack. Also, you might try using the alternate channel, assuming the ColecoVision has that capability (I don't remember and I don't have a ColecoVision handy at the moment). Good luck, ..Al
