Flojomojo #1 Posted February 16, 2005 Hey, *I'm* excited. I like the Rush games, but the N64 versions aren't that hot. It would be nice to play 2049 and Hydro Thunder without lugging out the Dreamcast. And STUN Runner? Sure, it's old, but it hasn't gotten a proper home treatment since the excellent but chunky Lynx conversion. I'm getting this one. Jess Ragan #2 Posted February 16, 2005 Midway Arcade Treasures 3: The We're Running Out Of Ideas Edition Seriously, eight games? They're going to have to do better than that, even if some of the titles are fairly recent. If they bring the number up to twenty, and include games like Gorf, Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monsters, and the unreleased prototype Vicious Circle, then we'll talk about a purchase. JB #3 Posted February 16, 2005 I think they're hoping people made about STUN Runner being bounced from edition 2 will buy 3.
+legeek #4 Posted February 16, 2005 I'm pretty excited about this too... If they can get the emulation/ports right, I'll take the eight games over 20 random ones... Cheers, Ben
intvgene #5 Posted February 16, 2005 I'm with Jess.. I wanted EPROM on this one. I only see about 3 games worth owning on this one.

JR I'll probably get this package, if only for the S.T.U.N. Runner and Rush games. Still, I have to agree. Midway needs to make this a 20, and they still have plenty of games they could use if they were willing. Gorf would probably never happen, because that was a Namco import, and Namco's doing their own emulator/repackaging thing. However, there are plenty of other games that Midway once imported from other companies, and that haven't yet been re-released by those companies. The two obvious examples are Moon Patrol and Burger Time, which not-so-coincidentally were featured in a PS1 Midway collection (and I believe Moon Patrol was even rumored to be on the list for Midway Arcade Treasures 2 at one point). And hey, what about Road Runner? Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom? These would also require licensing, but I guarantee a lot of old-game enthusiasts (myself included) would salivate at the chance of picking up a collection with these gems. And even if Midway gets stingy and decides not to do any sort of licensing after all, dammit, I want my Space Lords! Midway, give us another 20! Avid Fan #7 Posted February 16, 2005 Bring it to the gamecube and I'm there. Those games run like shit on my computer. And port these badboys, dont emulate

Atariboy #9 Posted February 16, 2005 Wait for MAT4, I think they wanted to stick with a racing theme for this one. These are more modern games requiring more work probably (Especially if they have to be ported over), so I suspect that's why the list is small.
Avid Fan #10 Posted February 16, 2005 I'd rather wait. They said that some of the games on MAT2 were ports, but I'm pretty sure they were emulated. Were there any ports? But even on my shitty computer, I dont get flickery shadows on Mortal Kombat 2, 3, they just run slow. Reguardless, I went to an arcade last night for the 1st time in years. Its funny that this disc has a bunch of games that I wanted to play last night. I remember SF Rush being the first racing game I dug since Rad Racer, yes, I didnt dig SNES Mario Kart
sega saturn x #11 Posted February 17, 2005 Hydro thunder is the best game on there but i cant help but wonder why spend 20$ for it when i can by it for a penny for dreamcast on ebay?
Zonie #12 Posted February 17, 2005 Moon Cresta. I want Moon cresta on a handheld!
Inky #13 Posted February 17, 2005 Why is Sega the only company that seemingly hasn't jumped on the classic arcade emulation bandwagon? Damnit, I wanna play Zaxxon on my gamecube!
cimerians #14 Posted February 17, 2005 No offense please But are some of you smoking crack? Again no offense but.... the last Midway treasures was totally unplayable in my opinion. Some of the worst emulation I've seen in years for all three systems (the Xbox having faired better) I'm not excited at all unless the 3rd installment will equal the 1st Midway treasures which was pretty damn good. As well as including Gorf and perhaps Planets of the Robot Monsters.
Room 34 #15 Posted February 17, 2005 Why is Sega the only company that seemingly hasn't jumped on the classic arcade emulation bandwagon? Damnit, I wanna play Zaxxon on my gamecube! Oh yeah, well I want to play DONKEY KONG on my GameCube!!!
PaulEMoz #16 Posted February 17, 2005 Why is Sega the only company that seemingly hasn't jumped on the classic arcade emulation bandwagon? Damnit, I wanna play Zaxxon on my gamecube! Konami REALLY need to. A Konami Arcade Classics of 20 or so games would kill everything else out there. As for this: MAT1: MAT2: MAT3:
Room 34 #17 Posted February 17, 2005 MAT1: MAT2: MAT3: Agreed. I loved the first one, so I was really excited for the second... until I looked at the game list. Maybe I'm too old or something, but I had never played ANY of those games and had no interest in them. Looks like the same goes for #3. There are too many real "classics" from the late '70s and early '80s that I still want to get my hands on. (But I suppose I shouldn't be sitting out in GameCube land if I really want to see any of this kind of stuff.)
PaulEMoz #18 Posted February 17, 2005 Konami could do two or three amazing volumes like this, too. Imagine Konami Classics Vol. 1, containing something like: Amidar Frogger Scramble Super Cobra Guttang Gottong Tutankham Pooyan Time Pilot Time Pilot 84 Q*Bert (possibly) Gyruss Juno First Track and Field Circus Charlie Green Beret (Rush N Attack) Mikie Gradius Ping Pong Shao-Lin's Road Salamander Yie Ar Kung Fu Parodius Contra That thing would FLY off the shelves. Xot #19 Posted February 17, 2005 Wow. Konami did a lousy job promoting this disc, huh? There's a Konami Arcade Classics disc for PS1 with Gyruss, Yie-Ar Kung Fu, Time Pilot, and... Scramble? It's been a while and I rarely play anything on it but Gyruss and Time Pilot but it had six games on it. It's excellent. And there's a similar collection for the GBA which includes Rush N Attack and Frogger as well as Gyruss, Time Pilot and Scramble.
Atariboy #20 Posted February 17, 2005 I liked MAT2 despite its flaws. Timber, Total Carnage, and Hard Drivin(Despite the flaws on that one) are fun on that. APB seems fine as does Championship Sprint, though they're not enjoyable with Xbox controller. Not everyone bought it to play Wizard of Wor or ancient 2d fighters... Yeah, although the GBA one features NES conversions rather than arcade conversions, I believe. A massive collection like the one I suggested would sell like crazy. joeybastard #23 Posted February 17, 2005 The GBA Konami Advanced gets a lot of play in my house. I play it on the Gamboy player thru my GC and use the Pelican real arcade stick. It's very well done and definitely not the NES versions.
Joystick Jedi #24 Posted February 17, 2005 I'm pretty stoked for this one actually. These are some of my favorite arcade games. I still drop quarters into Hydro Thunder every time I see one. Hopefully they have good racing wheel support!! I played the crap out of Treasures 1, but have only played 2 a couple times, despite liking the games list... the reason you ask? Damn MAME cab... J.Max #25 Posted February 17, 2005 This is the third time they've announced a home port of STUN Runner. It's one of my all-time favorites, and I'm starting to get a little upset that they've announced it yet again. I'm not holding my breath. As far as the GBA Konami cart goes, those were not NES ports, but they did mess up the music in Frogger. BTW, if you use the "Konami code" you get enhanced graphics....
